Season 8- Episode 22 - Lockdown
I can't in all honesty refer to this episode as 'Letdown' -
which is what a lot of people were calling it - simply because I
took the precaution of reading the TelevisionWithoutPity.com
recaps *before* viewing it and was thus not really expecting
great things of it.
So...my comments on 'Lockdown'...
Bleh...bleh...bleh.
Sorry, but if you're waiting for my usual detailed and scathing
comments, no can do. For the first time in years, I watched an
episode 'live'. Mainly to avoid the temptation of fast-forwarding
through the annoying bits and ending up watching a ten minute
show. And since my shorthand is no longer at the 120wpm like it
says on the certificate, I couldn't write down *all* my comments.
Carter referring to Abby as the 'Obi Wan' of nurses. Well maybe
if she grew a beard or something. But I have seen Obi Wan, I have
admired Obi Wan, and trust me, Abby is no Obi Wan Kenobi.
Actually I saw Star Wars II : Attack of the clones last Saturday.
Anybody want me to comment on that instead of ER? No? Damn.
Okay, okay.
I'm not even going to comment on the Vulcan hand signal that
Carter made while talking about Yoda. I'm just going to assume
that it was a deliberate joke by the writers and not that they're
a bunch of incompetents for not knowing the difference between
Star Wars and Star Trek. (And yeah, I'm a Sci Fic geek, okay)
Abby and the fire extinguisher. "Oops" my ass, she was
aiming straight at Carter.
Re: Abby leaving the kids in chairs. For once I'm going to defend
her here. If the parents had maybe mentioned a bad rash or even *not*
covered their kids up with blankets, then they might have been
seen a little quicker.
"Looks like a hospital...a pretty crappy one." (Snicker)
Kerry doesn't sound like she's just had a tooth repaired. Maybe I
should switch dentists.
My mouth is still half numb from today's filling. Tastes like
cloves as well.
I actually felt a little bit sorry for Pratt when the girl died.
He actually looked upset...and not just because Carter had
overruled him in the trauma. He seemed to genuinely care that the
girl had died.
Kerry "This is *my* ER."
CDC lady "Not anymore."
Cein "Yeah Kerry, don't you realize that it's now *Carter's*
ER?"
Alcoholic withdrawal seizure. Wonder how long it'll be before
Abby starts climbing the walls for a drink.
I notice that TPTB are being very clever and not saying straight
out whether Abby has stopped drinking or not. I know we had the
'previously' bit where she told Carter that she'd gone to AA 'for
him', but they can easily turn around next season and say that
she was lying all along. Or they could simply never refer to the
matter again, which is more likely.
And naturally Carter the hero manages to succeed in calming the
crowd when everybody else has failed. All hail Saint Carter.
Abby "Tell me we're going to be okay."
Carter kisses her.
And Abby is probably thinking, "Oh God, we're all going to
die now."
And a very quick fade to black after the last kiss. TPTB are
probably just keeping their options open. This way season 9 can
open with either Carter and Abby snogging like crazy or Abby
pulling away from Carter and slapping him in the face, or any
variation thereof. But whether I will be bothering to watch it
remains to be seen.
Until January then, this is Cein's comments, fading slowly to
black.
