Season 8- Episode 16 - Secret's and lies

RTE Voiceover "An angry Dr. Weaver spoils the party, but not before the high spirits uncover a few secrets in the ER."

Oh great, now even the voiceover gal thinks that Kerry is just a 'party pooper'.

I'm surprised that Luka didn't ask Abby's permission before touching the bruises on her face.

Susan to Carter "This petty sarcastic side of you is not appealing."
You should be used to it by now, it's nothing new.

These people are supposed to be professionals, yet the first chance they get, they're snooping through a patient's personal belongings.

They were damned lucky to get away with just a day at a sexual harassment class.

Carter "It isn't funny."
That's rich, coming from the guy who put the damn thing in Kerry's locker.

Is he feeling guilty that he put it there in the first place?
Annoyed that he has to waste his free Saturday at the lecture?
Or just pissed that he didn't get to see Kerry's face when she noticed it?

Susan "When you find out why I was over there, you are going to feel very small."
Jeez, could you drop any *more* hints?

Question #1. If Abby is staying with Luka, how come she arrived later to the lecture than he did?

Question #2. How could Kerry have gotten that lecture organized so quickly? Not to mention getting it timed for a day when none of the five were working.

Rude of Carter to snatch Luka's paper like that without even asking if he could read it.

Abby re Luka's father "I didn't know that."
Luka "You never asked."
Of course she didn't, cause everything is about *Abby*.

I actually feel sorry for Carter when they were hassling him about how much his family was worth. I mean, Susan is his girlfriend, Abby is supposed to be his friend and former sponsor, and they're just ganging up on him.

Personally, I'd have told Abby to just mind her own damned business and/or I'd have deliberately moved to a seat away from her.

Abby "Oh my God! I knew you were rich, but I didn't know you were *that* rich."
Warning warning, 'Gold digger alert. Danger John Carter, danger."

They were told to be there at 8am, and the lecturer wasn't there an hour and 40 minutes later. That's it; I'd have been out of there. Heck, I'd have left after the first hour.

If I hadn't read a summary of the episode, I'd have picked Abby as the one responsible for the dildo in Kerry's locker.
She's already been shown to have a liking for nasty practical jokes, and it *was* her and Susan who wanted to open the bag in the first place. I ruled out Susan because she wouldn't have looked so horrified at the sight of it in Kerry's locker if she'd been expecting to see it.
Then of course, there was Carter making it perfectly obvious that he didn't mind a bit of breaking and entering...although his lock picking skills were a bit of a red herring.

Gallant was never an option. He's too respectful of Kerry's authority...practically the only person in the ER who seems to treat her with respect these days.
Luka was an outside shot. He *was* the person most likely responsible for the cans on Kerry's crutch last season, but I can't see him doing something as nasty and offensive as that. Plus, I'm pretty sure that if he *had* done it, he would have owned up to it rather than let the others be blamed.

It's interesting to note that Carter never actually denied that he did it. Sure he accused nearly everyone else, but he never said, "No I didn't do it."

Susan "So why'd you quit [med school]?"
Abby "See that's what I mean. You can't imagine that anybody wouldn't want to be you."
No, she just can't understand why somebody would go to all that trouble of getting into Med School, running up all those debts only to quit before they were finished.

Carter "They tossed you out."
Ah, now that's an image that I'll cherish. <g>

Luka learned fencing when he was acting? I always thought that 'stage fencing' consisted of knowing how to hit your opponents weapon so that it made a nice 'clanging' sound and looked impressive.

The fencing scene would have been much more impressive if they'd done it topless. (Just an observation <g>)

The way Abby puts it "Carter started a rumor" makes it sound like Carter was bragging to the whole ER that he'd slept with Abby. All he did was tell Rena that they'd been an item, and that was it.

Susan (re the 'rumor') "That is low."
Abby "I thought so."
Oh yeah, she thought it was so low, that when Rena (the only person Carter had told about it) mentioned it to her, she immediately set her straight and told her it was only a figment of Carter's disturbed imagination...except she didn't...she covered for Carter and didn't drop him in it.

Luka had no right to slash Carter in the face like that. Okay, Carter had swatted him on the back, but he didn't use half the amount of force that Luka used.
Luka's swipe at Carter was just plain vicious. He could have taken Carter's eye out, and I don't blame Carter for jumping him.

Sherry looked very like Kim from '24' in that scene.

10.10 am. No way would I be still in that room.

Susan re Dix "It's complicated. I'd rather not talk about it if you don't mind."
I'm surprised Abby didn't take it as an open invitation to badger Susan about it like she did with Carter and his family money.

Okay, I think that Carter was being honest about the '11', but mistaken about the '25'. I doubt a kid of 11 would even *know* how old a particular adult was unless they were specifically told)

Gallant did look a bit concerned when he heard the '25'. Luka didn't seem to be paying much attention to anyone's comments. But I can't believe that Susan and Abby just laughed it off like that. If they believed him, then as his friends, they should have been concerned that he was abused as a child...and if they didn't believe him, they should have called him on joking about such a serious topic.

If Susan and Abby had been in the same class in school, they'd be the two who would be put sitting at opposite sides of the classroom because of disruptive behavior.

Luka "I lost my virginity on my wedding night."
And finally we have something that shut those two bitches up.

Why is it so unusual that somebody would choose to wait until they're in a stable relationship before jumping into bed with them?

Was Carter carving his initials or something into the desk? Looks like he never gave Gallant back his knife.

There was a lot of discussion when the episode first aired about whether Luka or Carter was the first one to hold the hand out. I rewound it to check, but it looks like Luka was walking past Carter when he saw Carter's hand out and then shook it. The sudden change in camera angle didn't make it easy to tell which of them made the first effort.

Susan to Carter "you really made a fool of yourself."
"You participated in a duel."

As I recall, Luka seemed to have no problem with the idea of a little swordplay. Carter had barely mentioned 'fencing equipment' when Luka made a beeline for the cupboard.

And my usual suggestion as to what Dave could have done in this episode...
Firstly, he'd have been digging into the bag of tricks with the rest of them. It's possible that he would have put something fun into Kerry's locker. And if he'd been there, I don't think he'd have let Carter's - 11 & 25 - comment pass without saying something. Of course, he'd probably have been slagging Carter about his family money as well <g>
And yeah, he'd have been throwing paper planes at everybody too <g>
