Season 8- Episode 10 - I'll be home for Christmas
Voiceover - Dr. Benton has a tough decision to make now as the
custody battle over Reese reaches fever pitch. Will he be forced
to leave the ER?
Well if he'd been willing to compromise a little then no, he
wouldn't have had to leave. But nooo, Peter 'Reese is the most
important thing in my life' Benton doesn't care if Reese never
sees Roger again. It doesn't matter that Reese obviously loves
him like a father. Reese had three 'parents' in his life - Peter,
Carla and Roger. Now he's lost one, and Peter is doing his best
to take away a second one. Whether Peter liked it or not, Roger
was a major part of Reese's life for over 2 years. That's a long
time when you're only four years old. (grrr)
I noticed that as soon as Lopez started talking about personal
stuff (Kerry changing her mind) Kerry almost ran for the first
private spot she could find - the doctors lounge. By the way, is
the doctor's lounge the lounge that we see all the time? Or is
there a second one that the nurses are allowed use as well?
Very rude and unprofessional of Peter to just walk out on Susan
and the patient without a word.
In the scene where the Judge and the interpreter were talking to
Reese, wouldn't it have made more sense for them to sit side by
side? As it was, the Judge kept trying to get Reese to look at *him*
when he asked the question, and then the interpreter had to pull
at Reese to look at *her* so that he could see what she was
asking. I guess that from the director's point of view it looked
good having them set out that way, but it seemed a bit odd.
Romano regarding Peter's request for a letter guaranteeing him
better hours. "To whom it concerns, no frigging way."
Nurse "Was [Nicole] an ER patient?"
Abby "I just have to follow up on something."
Yeah, being a nosy self-righteous bitch. I just wish that she'd
gotten caught snooping.
Cleo "Romano wouldn't give you the hours."
Dammit, everyone seems to be of the belief that Romano is not
giving Peter the better hours simply because he's being Romano.
And for a change, he's actually in the right. Last time I looked
Trauma Surgery was not a nine to five job.
Hernias and hemmeroids...enjoy yourself Peter. And I hope that
you remember every day that you wouldn't have had to do this if
you hadn't been so damned stubborn.
Peter to Elizabeth. "I need to change my life...Romano won't
cut me any slack."
Why should he? Why should Peter be given preferential treatment?
Is he the only parent on the surgical staff? No. The only single
parent? Possibly. The only single parent who had a chance to make
this whole custody battle go away by agreeing to deal that was
more than fair? Yep, that's the guy.
Hey, maybe Elizabeth should threaten to quit so that Romano would
have to give *her* better hours, but no, I forgot. Elizabeth
doesn't *want* to change her life just because she's had a child.
Elizabeth "I'm sure he'll make some accommodation."
Peter "I asked, he won't."
Another lie Peter? This is getting to be a habit with you. Still,
at least he wasn't under oath *this* time.
Poor Roger. You know, the standard pattern for TV/Movie custody
battles is usually bad guardian versus good guardian. Bad
guardian fights dirty, lies and cheats and is eventually awarded
custody, only for good guardian to finally get the decision
overturned and live happily ever after. So by this reasoning then
Roger should have ended up with Reese.
Peter to Cleo "Maybe we should relocate."
Cynical Ceindreadh is wondering if he's just trying to make it
more difficult for Roger to see Reese.
I hope that Cleo has her piano lid locked down, cause neither she
nor Peter were paying much attention to Reese.
Woman who shot her kid "I just wanted to protect our house."
Maybe you should have just got a burglar alarm.
No wonder Peter is looking so blank when Carter is telling him
where the subway token came from, Carter's obviously made up the
whole story.
And is that the first time Carter has called him 'Peter' ?
