Season 8- Episode 9 - Quo Vadis
Voiceover - Dr. Benton has his day in court, and back in the
Emergency Room, Dr. Greene finds his fatherly advice is falling
on deaf ears.
That's because he's talking to a teenager. They don't need
'advice', they need orders.
Oh come on, how could Susan *not* know that lilies are a flower
for funerals? Or is that not a widespread custom in the US?
Frank "When the paramedics roll me in, I'm taking Romano."
For once Frank is allowed to speak for the 'popular side'...that
is, the side of an argument that TPTB deem to be popular. But no,
I'm wrong. Elizabeth is the hero and Romano the villain, so he's
on the 'bad' side again.
Gallant "Dr. Benton ever in a good mood?"
Elizabeth "He has his moments."
And I bet she's thinking of some that were NC-17 rated ;-)
I know that it had to be done...and I know that it's a difficult
question to have to ask someone, but couldn't Elizabeth have been
a bit gentler with the husband of the potential organ donor.
I guess that Luka has no other friends in the ER since he's
confiding in Abby about Nicole. Oh wait, I forgot, this season
they don't *have* friendships in the ER.
Nice hair Cleo. But maybe you should have spent the money on a
calculator instead of a hairstyle. Then you might have been able
to tell the court the *real* length of time that you and Peter
were dating. (Spring 2000 to Winter 2001, is NOT 'almost 3 years')
Nicole "I shouldn't have caffeine."
Abby "Oh right, I forgot."
Bullshit, she did that deliberately so she could test whether
Nicole was telling the truth or not.
Abby "This is not the way to 'get' Luka."
Yeah Nicole, you should have just waited until Luka was depressed
and then jumped his bones. That way it'd take him almost a year
to get rid of you.
Nicole to Abby "I guess everything's *your* business."
Didn't anybody warn her that this was the 'Abby show' before she
signed up?
Abby "I don't want to see him hurt."
Nicole "Maybe you just don't want to see him happy."
That has got to be the first time I've seen Abby speechless.
Mark is obviously not as into organ donation as Elizabeth. Why
didn't he ask the father of the boxer boy for consent? Would
whatever the kid had been taking have made his organs unsuitable?
Guess that Carter's family isn't the only one that suffers from
the 'disappearing child syndrome'. I am sure that Jackie had more
than one son, but Roger's lawyer made it sound like there was
only Jesse and his sister (whose name I just can't remember)
Remind me *never* to go to a hospital where senior ER docs find
nothing wrong with showing confidential medical records to their
children.
Glad to see that Rachel called him on it.
I must admit that I was surprised to see Mark actually doing
something properly parental...although personally I would have
told the cops to lock her up for a few hours and throw a scare
into her.
Romano "I ordered Liver and hour ago and I haven't seen my
waitress since." Paul McCrane must have it written into his
contract that he gets all the best lines.
Benton "The patient's breathing on her own."
Romano "How inconsiderate."
Susan's look just before Carter kisses her, is the look of
someone who's been reading ahead in the script and knows that
Carter is going to kiss her and is just waiting for him to do it
and get it over with.
Mark to Rachel "I want you to be safe. I care more about
that than about you being angry with me."
So how long did it take for that to change to 'I want to be your
friend'?
Mark "I want to be able to trust you."
Guess he's still waiting for that one.
