Season 8- Episode 7 - If I should fall from grace
"Now a bright new student doctor finds himself in a
traumatic situation, and viewers should note that you may find
some scenes in tonight's episode of ER quite disturbing."
Mmm, so *this* is Gallant.
Gallant "You got a lost and found box?"
Haleh "Somebody stole it."
(smirk)
How come Gallant seems to be the only med student starting in the
ER? Don't they usually travel in bunches?
Luka to Nicole "It'll be good for you to watch."
To watch, maybe, but she sure as hell shouldn't be allowed to
participate in a trauma. She's a nurses aide, dammit, *not* a
nurse.
"This morning she was learning how to take a BP and now
she's in a trauma?"
Oh no...the thermometers must have frozen up in hell, because I'm
actually agreeing with Abby.
If Nicole wants to be a nurses aide, then that's fine, but
there's no way in hell she should be doing any stuff like traumas.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought that the point of nurses
aides was to do all the basic stuff like cleaning up patients so
that nurses could be freed up to do things like traumas.
And even if she *was* supposed to be involved in trauma's at some
stage in her training, I hardly think it appropriate for her to
be doing them on her first day. Not to mention the fact that if
anyone is going to train a *nurses* aide, then it should be a
nurse. Not a lovesick doctor.
"You're scaring me Peter, you're not your usual jolly self
today. You haven't developed a drug addiction or drinking problem
like the rest of your misfit buddies in the ER?"
Peter "No."
Romano "Give it time."
Dammit, how does he always get the best lines <g>
Ah, so this week it's Peter's turn to treat the 'patient in a
similar situation to the treating doctor'. Or in this case, it's
the waiting relative "my son is all I have"
Either the make up department slipped up, or somebody decided
that it was time for 'Gamma' to start looking her age. Guess it
makes a change from 'fully made up patient who's really at
death's door'
Notice the distinct change in Luka's 'bedside manner' once he
found out that the security guard was responsible for the
skateboard boy's injuries.
And why is an attempted suicide being left unattended and
unrestrained? Ah, maybe Luka wants him to try again, only to do a
better job *this* time.
Grace. I was wrong, guess Carter's also getting the 'patient in
similar circumstances' plot.
Was going to comment on the whole 'Elizabeth breaking into
Babcock's lab' plot, but it's just too stupid.
So Mark is *finally* laying down some ground rules for Rachel.
And I wonder just how long *that* will last.
Rachel "I have chores now?"
Jesus, did she think that her staying with Mark and Elizabeth was
some sort of vacation? She should have been doing her share of
chores since the day she arrived. And if she didn't like it, then
she should have gone back to her mother.
What sort of 14 year old *doesn't* have to do their share of
chores?
"What am I going to do? Call the cops on my grandmother?"
Well yeah Carter. I mean you know that it's not safe for her to
drive. She's already had several fainting spells. If she causes
an accident and you didn't do anything constructive to prevent
her driving - like hiding her keys or calling the police - then
you'll be responsible. Maybe not legally, but definitely morally.
Grace seems to have recovered from her dose of Haldol a lot
quicker than Dave did last season.
Carter "I've been clean and sober for over a year."
Well yeah, if you ignore the Vicodin incident which was only the
previous Christmas.
I'm trying to think what was so disturbing in this episode that
required a warning. I guess the guy hanging from the ceiling was
pretty disturbing, but otherwise it seemed a run of the mill
episode.
At least there seems to be *one* person in the ER who is willing
to report a colleagues family member. A pity that Susan wasn't
directly involved in Ella's case as I'm sure *she* would have
made damn sure that Mark informed the police.
