Cegrover's 1975 Datsun 280Z Page!
I bought a one-family 1975 280Z in January of 2007 and will document maintenance and restoration here.  This will be a driver (and ocassional track/autocrosser), rather than a perfect, show-car resto; but the car will receive the best of care and updates as items are needed.  Stay tuned.

The car had 186K miles and typical Z rust at purchase.  Engine runs well and basically everything works well, it's just a little rough.  The car is copper with coffee.  It was fun to drive stock, but I had powertrain upgrades in mind when I got this car.

Spring 2008 update:

With the help of a couple of friends, we tackled the interior teardown, bumper removal and rust assessment in one fun day.  The floor pans are in poorer condition than originally anticipated, but the frame rails look better than I expected; so that's a wash.  I will get some photos with the interior out and bumpers off before it goes to the body shop.

Dec. 2008 update:

The Z will be going to the body shop either this month or next.  The shop will to repair all rust, repair all dents, beef up the frame rails and sway bar mounts, fill rear valance holes not covered by 240Z bumpers, install the bumpers, treat the car with rust inhibitor and sound deadener, paint the car Infiniti FX beryllium and install all weatherstipping.  I'll then get it back in late Spring or early Summer and get the 'new' engine and drivetrain in, install the interior and suspension and brake upgrades, etc.
