Our Progress: 9-7-06 We met and discussed proposal ideas. We are currently leaning towards a small kitchen appliance, possibly a toaster. We decided to make Jon our group leader. 9-14-06 We met again and our throwing around ideas about doing a toaster. We are meeting tuesday to finalize our product decision and delegate group roles. 9-21-06 Today we decided on doing a fan. Our current idea for re-engineering is to make the fan rotate 360 degrees. We our still discuss how to actually make the fan do this. 9-26-06 We wrote our initial draft proposal. Christopher Pugh was not here. 10-03-06 We met as a small group and discussed ideas for moving forward with the project. We found a digital camera to take pictures of our project, but the fan for our project is still unknown. Our objective for next week is to have completed our research on oscilating fans. Christopher Pugh still has only shown up for one meeting so far. 10-10-06 We met today and disected and took pictures of the different parts of the fan. We split up parts of the second draft between the members. We will meet again on tuesday to write our second draft. 10-18-06 We did not meet and we are just working on our second proposal. 10-24-06 We met and typed up our second draft proposal. 11-1-06 We discussed the final draft and the power point presentation. 11-8-06 We did not meet and we will still just be working towards the final draft. 11-14-06 We showed eachother what we have written thus far. No meeting for 11-21-06. 11-29-06 Posted final draft. |

Initial proposal: Oscillating fan Group 11 Participants: Jonathan Pfau Justin Pearce Brian Prosek Patrick Richter John Roberts Jose Rodriguez |

Aabstract view: Our group has agreed to disect an oscillation fan and looking at the oscillating aspects of it for improvement. We hope to improve the design by adding a 360 degree rotation feature. |

Introduction. It has come to our attention over the years that fans are not very effecient due to the fact that the range of oscillation is not adjustable. We will be focusing on how a fan oscilates and how we could possible improve its oscilating motin, possibly to a full 360 degrees. We will be looking at the mechanical aspects of this fan with hopes of devising a method to make the oscillation adjustable. we will also be focusing on the electrical aspects of the distribution of power throught the fan with the intent of adding sensors to the fan to select the range of oscillation. Finally, we will be looking at this product from an industrial engineers point of view with regards to effeciency and ease of production. Chapter 1: Mechanical aspects - Overview of the design of the fan - Design of the oscilating system Chapter 2: Electrical aspects - Motor - Oscilating sensors - power distribution - Human interface device Chapter 3: Industrial aspects - ease of production - effeciency of design Chapter 4: Market analysis/cost analysis - Market analysis - Cost analysis Chapter 5: Ethical/enviornmental aspects - Ethical aspects - Enviornmental: does this affect the enviornment Conclusion: overview of reserch and design improvent |
