[Book Reviews] [Fantasy and SF] [Children's Books] [Mystery]

[Books--a world inside the pages]

The world of books has always been a part of my life. I learned to read when I was four, and I checked out my first novel, The Story of Doctor Dolittle, with my new library card when I was six. Although I'm grown, I still love children's books. When I was twelve, I also picked up my life-long addiction to Fantasy and Science Fiction. These are my two major interests in the category of fiction. (Non-fiction is another story, and you can find much of my non-fiction reading in my History section.) My two minor interests in fiction are mystery and romance.

In my Book Review section are opinions and information on the books I've been reading lately. In the Fantasy and SF section, you can find links and information on my favorite authors in the genre, including my "required reading" list. Similar information on children's authors is in my Children's Books section. My Mystery section includes my Cadfael page and Sherlock Holmes links.

Some thoughts on ROMANCE...

I was first introduced to the romance novel at age nine, at my aunt's house. She had a friend who belonged to the Harlequin Book Club, and this friend passed her books along to my aunt, so there was always a stack of them in bottom of the bookcase. During the weeks I spent there each summer, I devoured those slim volumes, developing a taste for romance that has never left me. Although I seldom read "romance novels" anymore, I still like the books I read (and the stories I write myself) to contain a healthy dose of romance.

THIS SITE IS STILL VERY MUCH UNDER CONSTRUCTION
IF THERE ARE LINKS THAT DON'T WORK
THAT'S PROBABLY WHY

[E-Mail] . "Such a child eventually discovers, on some low but obscure shelf, The Book of Gold. You have never seen this book, and you will never see it, being past the age at which it is met."
.
"It must be very beautiful."
.
"It is indeed. Unless my memory betrays me, the cover is of black buckram, considerably faded at the spine. Several of the signatures are coming out, and certain of the plates have been taken. But it is a remarkably lovely book. I wish that I might find it again."
