High School

High school days are often referred to as the best part of one's life. While, I do admit my high school life was happy, I also can't help but be saddened because of the friends I've also lost.

Profiles

These are the friends that I've kept in touch with through the years. Fortunately, we still see each other, at least once or twice a year. I won't tell you that they're the best and dearest of my friends because that already goes without saying... (so here goes)

Atess
Like me, Atess also loves to read. She and I used to exchange pocketbooks when we were in high school (Remember Sweet Valley??). For now, I think she digs Danielle Steele (not sure!). She also adores (underline the word!!!) Harry Potter. After HS, she took up management information system in an exclusive school for girls (I think it's the reason for her "maria clara" attitude, though it could also be inborn. Hehehe, just kidding atess). Among my friends from HS, hers is the only career I've been able to monitor, from job hunting way back when we were newly grads to her present position. I can tell you, hearing her stories makes me thankful that I'm still studying in a university! Fortunately, she's now a little more stable. Keep up the good work girl! (^_^)

Aline
Aline is the quintessential "madaldal" (ooops... sorry for the term.) girl in the group. Always keeps us amused with her jokes and her antics every time the group meets up. She's also taking up medicine and if she hasnt changed her mind, she's planning to specialize in obstetrics & gynecology (Aline, if I become pregnant you'll be my doctor ha!). Also, she's so toxic this summer (aside from doing advanced reading for the coming school year, she also has a summer sort of community service. Whatever).

Grace
Now this is the one person I keep myself updated with through Atess. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see her for the past couple of years, our schedules simply aren't compatible (hope that would change this year). From what I've been hearing, her career's going well (go girl!), though I don't know any details. She's also the one responsible for creating our mailing group (keep up the good work Ms. Moderator), and my number one source for the latest forwarded emails (sorry Atess and Aline, you're only runners up). I haven't heard anything from her this past few weeks (maybe because of her transferring jobs), though.

Chacha
She's Aline's partner in crime (for want of a better term), and as they were always together during high school, they are still always together during our meetings (meaning if one can't make it, the other probably won't go too ^_^). Like me, her boyfriend is also abroad and so she knows the "sorrows" of a long distance relationship. Sigh...

Karen
The "kikay" of the group, she never runs out of boys (blame it on her charms). She moved to California a couple of years back, and since she started getting busy with her career and studies (I think she's a nurse or something) I don't have much news about her. She does forward text messages every now and then, though so I know she's still alive (^_^). She also has a fianc (who's quite possessive). Anyway, hope she's doing fine.

Lanie
She was my partner in crime back in HS. She's got kids of her own now (one of which is my inaanak, and it shames me to admit this but I haven't been attentive in my duties as ninang). We rarely keep in touch (she's probably busy with her family, and I was busy with med). She was a real active student, with loads of extra-curricular activities. Aside from which, she still managed to serve in Church.

Eliza
If Karen's kikay, Gaduang (as we used to call her) was the "boyish" one. Can't tell much about her, since I haven't been able to see her for a long long time now.

Agnes
The girl Atess and Grace love to tease... I hear she also has a long term boyfriend now, and she's super busy with work, so she rarely emails us.

Yu-en
She's this type of girl who doesn't have to do anything to maintain her figure (one of the blessed when it comes to metabolism), she then moved to the States before finishing HS. Got to see her when she went home a few years back, though. (Hope I can email her one of these days).

Edec
My favorite "joker" (even with corny lines and all), he's the only thorn among the roses (heehee) but girls take note: he's not gay (^_^). Currently based in Canada, he's still on the look out for "the right girl", and he insists on finding her here (crazy guy). Hopefully, he'll be coming back next year (blow out!!!).

The Group

(Group pics)

I think this one was taken when we were in second year high school. (L-R, clockwise: Eliza, Karen, Christina G., me, Maha & Grace)

Taken when we were seniors. (L- R, clockwise: Me, Chacha, Aline and Lanie)

A couple of years back (around '98 or '99), Yu-en went back here for a visit. We went to a mall, grabbed a bite and had a our pic taken. :) (L-R, clockwise: Aline, me, Yu-en, Lanie & Chacha)

The Retreat.I'm not really sure bout this one, but I think this pic was taken during our retreat. The only guy present was our class adviser Mr. Jason Madamba (wonder how he's doing??)

Coming Of Age

These pics were taken from two of my friends' (Aline and Grace) debut.
