Cedar Park has been inhabited for over 10,000 years. The Anthropology Department of the University of Texas explored several Indian kitchen middens that were estimated to be 9,000 years old. In 1983 TxDot archaeologists found one of the oldest and most complete prehistoric human skeletons while constructing the road 1431 which ties Cedar Park with Round Rock and IH35. They named the skeleton the Leanderthal lady after the city of Leander even though the find was closer to Cedar Park. This archaeological site was known as the Wilson-Leonard site and shows evidence of continuous habitation in the Cedar Park and Leander area since at least 5000 BC.
Picture is of GW & Harriet Cluck homestead built in 1874 They owned 329 acres and built their home on Running Brushy Creek in 1874 and became the founders of what would eventually become Cedar Park.  Their home stood at what is now the NW corner of Buttercup Blvd and US183.  The creeks origin was a spring on the south side of the property.  Today it is behind and just NW of Texas Discount Furniture.
First Post Office / Grocery was built in 1887.. We believe that Hattie Cluck moved the Post Office from her home to the new Post Office when it was completed.  Her son Emmett Cluck took over as Post Master in 1892 and served until 1929.
Railroad Foremans House was built in 1882. It is the oldest remaining building in Cedar Park. It is located at 183 & Brushy Creek Rd across the Railroad track behind Goodwill.  The almost 5 acres it sits on is the original site of Cedar Park.

Running Brushy School / Church was built in 1879. Land for the building was donated by the Clucks and was located behind the RR Foreman's house and next to what was called "The Park". Summer services were conducted under a brush arbor.  County elections were also held there.  The school closed down in 1923 when Whitestone School was built.  Running Brushy School was later demolished in 1970 due to its dilapidated condition.
