| Tuesday April 8th 2003 Yup - had a feeling when I lost my access to Geocities at work that the number of my updates would go downhill .... Life with my new cat Maggie is proceeding well, although she has an odd eating habit. A bowl of dry food will last her a week - unless I leave for the weekend, where upon my return I find it absolutely empty after being away for only two nights. This weekend she followed that up by puking on my bed, so I'm doing some unexpected laundry tonight. I just love kitties! A lot of my back and forth driving time to visit LA is spent listening to CBC Radio. I was treated to an interview with 'Farmer Bob', who lives not ten minutes from my parents in northern Ontario. He's this year's winner of the Northern Moose award, which is ... well, I'm not quite sure what, but it was cool listening to him being interviewed as I remembered riding on his horse drawn sleigh last Christmas Day. That was immediately followed by some kind of 'Dot on the Map' quiz, where you call in if you know the location. This weekend's location was 'Crystal Falls'. And me without a cell phone - sigh. I was looking out my bedroom window into the park a few minutes ago and could have sworn I saw LA walking her dog. My heart stopped for a couple of seconds, I think, til I realized that doesn't look anything like her dog, and that's actually a guy doing the walking. Oh. It was pretty exciting, though. I have a huge, fabulously crafted white and purple afghan LA made for me that now occupies a place of honour, draped over the back of my couch in the centre of my living room. One night this week I want to wrap up in it and watch a movie, if I can manufacture a free evening. I also have a storage closet in the basement full of stuff I brought down from LA's with me; sort of the advance vanguard of her move in June. That date's become a bit tentative because the store she manages may move within a month or two of that, and if so, she'd like to see it through to the end. A 'changing of the guard' sort of thing. LA often tells me she won't miss working there a bit, but I half expect she'll have more fond memories than she thinks. It was all hers, and she managed it well. |
