Attended another lawyer's appointment this morning with my ex.  Fortunately the way we mutually agreed we wanted to arrange things beforehand has turned out to be a fair deal on paper as well, so it looks like this is all going to proceed pretty smoothly.  There's a bit more lawyer stuff still to go than either of us had anticipated, but I'm finally beginning to see the end of tunnel.  I got a bit of an update about things that are going on in her life, and most interesting was her idea to start a business of her own.  That's pretty ambitious, and I wish her all the best.

I've started reading the fourth Harry Potter book.  I read the first three around this time last year, but never got around to this one.  Now I'm faced with the same issue I had then; how to read it on the bus without  feeling self-conscious.  I tell myself it's actually quite easy; many's the time I've seen other adults on the bus reading the series.  Just ... not recently.  Anyway, I'll read what I want to read and that's that.

I noted a comment in my Guestbook recently from an old friend, 'Dopon Arope'.  I missed the true meaning of the name at first, dense person that I am.  Well, with one person from India already leaving his name and now this, I just figured ... anyway, no excuses, it slipped by me.  'Dope on a Rope' requires a bit of explanation.  It refers to my teenage roleplaying years, when in one particular adventure I included a liquid substance lighter than air which I believed the other players' characters would not be able to retrieve.  As was usual, they were more enterprising than I anticipated and contrived an argument I couldn't deny which allowed them to obtain a vast quantity.  They placed it in bottles, tied it around one character, and floated him like a kite as a sort of lookout - soon earning the jesting moniker, 'Dope on a rope'.  You had to be there.  At any rate, the play on the name all these years later brought back amusing memories, so thank you Dope.

I confess a small desire to see the return of my Xbox in the near future.  I've read a few too many game reviews, and paid a little too much attention to listing some in my Christmas list (see yesterday's entry), and had it mentioned by my friends a few too many times - plus the visit to play my co-worker's didn't help.  I take back the part about my friends still harping on my decision to share it with LA - they haven't really been that bad.  They are, after all, still coming over to visit.
