| Tuesday June 25th 2002 Lessons learned this past weekend: - Modems are painfully, agonizingly slow. This is more like a reminder than a lesson, I guess. Although I can't view my web site at work, I can get far enough in to update it, so I'll still be doing that here instead. - Shopping for clothes can be fun. Shopping for clothes can also be bloody expensive. - In the Battle of Guilts, a compromise is possible. In this corner: Guilt over Not Going Outside to enjoy the weather; in that corner: Guilt over not sitting at my computer and Getting Some Writing Done. Result: plenty of dragonboat spectating and rollerblading; 20 pages typed. - A 'free personal ad site' that doesn't let you e-mail fellow advertisers or respond to people who message you until you pay up is not, in my opinion, a free personal ad site. If you have a an ad and you're paying for it, cancel it and look for Quest Personals. Speaking of which, as of now I'm officially laying low on the personal ads thing. It smacks of desperation and I'm staring to feel pretty low-brow about it. But the argument that relationships are important enough not to be left entirely up to chance still holds water, so my ad will remain posted - I'm just not going to focus on it as much. - Minority Report is a good flick and a prime example of how to use special effects properly, but it ain't no Indiana Jones no matter what the critics tell you; pretty much no humour, for one thing, and the message isn't as deep as I was led to believe. Also: Pizza Hutt at the Famous Players theatre is hot, and it is fresh, but it is definitely not fast. - Dragonboat racing looks like a heck of a lot of fun, and I'm definitely in on paddling one myself when the chance comes up next time - possibly this September. - A red bar appearing at the bottom of the Weather Network channel's screen is not good. - The next time everybody I know is leaving town for the weekend, I may as well think of somewhere to go too. |
