| Thursday May 2nd 2002 Had my first hint last night that the writing group I'm with is going to go 'artsy' on me once in a while. Had a big discussion about how you're apparently never supposed to use exclamation marks or replace the word 'said' - both comments I consider to be total nonsense. I haven't read a book in recent memory, if ever, that stuck with either of those 'rules'. I'll submit my work as is next week, let them say their piece along these lines, and ignore them. There's more important things I'm interested in getting comments on than that. I think I'll post it here when it's done. It's just something I rattled off for fun, not like I'll try getting it published anywhere. It was fun to write and I don' t mind sharing it; watch for a link to it from my archives page once it's finished. Now for a note to my parents: I'm going to call you, I know, I know! I think I could have sneaked it in Sunday but I got carried away with other business, and every night since I've had something on the go. So I'm gonna do it, trust me! Tonight's looking good so far, in fact. It's something I don't do often enough. I made sure I at least shared this URL with them, so they get some sense of what's going on in their son's life way over yonder in Ottawa, even if they don't hear from me as often as they should. Something else I have to do is pay this month's rent. I can easily do it, but I never thought of it until late last night and I don't know what the routine is here. Also on the subject of routines, I need to work out a checklist of things to do when going to bed, 'cause I forgot to set my alarm last night which led to mild problems this morning. That's definitely one thing you don't want to overlook, if you can help it. Not much else to update folks on lately, which is why I've been harping on the NHL and TLC the last couple of days. Except for that darn bathroom cabinet problem I've got. I'll have to go to my ex's place and borrow her saw to cut spaces in the legs, otherwise I can't attach it to the wall because of the baseboards. Ought to borrow her hammer and drill, while I'm at it. Ought to buy my own one of these days while I'm at it, too :) |
