| Xena- The Bitter Suite by- Joseph LoDuca year-1998 stars- ***** Well let me just say this is one of the cds you buy and sing along to. The first two tracks linger a bit until you reach " song of the fool." As soon as you hear the voice of Callisto(spoken by Hudson herself and sung by Michelle Nicastro), turn up your speakers and prepare for "a musical odyssey." The cd follows the episode exactly and even if you've never seen the episode or Xena, you'll still love this cd. Lucy Lawless is an excellent singer and a personal favorite of mine is her duet with Gabrielle in "hearts are hurting." ((i say gabrielle because Renee really didn't sing her own parts). It really doesn't matter who sang their own parts and who didn't. This cd deserves a high spot on anyone's list. However, for those of you who insist semi-broadway emotional..yet fun music isn't your style, you may not want to check this out. Fave tracks- Song of Illusia, Hearts are Hurting 1+2 Least fave- The Deliverer (what are they saying..sounds something like "oh artemis" but it here ---------------- Ace of Base- Happy Nation writer/producer- Jonas Berggren and Ulf Ekberg year- 1992/1993 stars- ***** This is the first Ace of Base cd. It was their first release under the name Ace of Base and depending on where you're from, it was roughly released 1992-1993. You see this cd..it was the one that started it all- not only for AoB, but for the rebirth of dance music on top 40 stations. They broke through the entire universe with this cd and for that it gets mad props. It has a lot of early house/techno dance music. The beats are primative *ohh this sounds like that southpark episode* but ever so catchy. This is, however, one of the harder cds to find. If you ever see it, buy it. I don't care if you love them or hate them. I've not yet met someone who hates this cd. Unlike it's children - Happy nation us version and The sign- the original Happy Nation is less reggae and more industrial dance. It also had different versions of "Voules Vous Danser", the original " Waiting for Magic," and if you listen closely..you can hear more of Jenny on "Young and Proud." This cd makes you wanna dance around your house like a crazed mofo. If I had to pick out one thing I didn't like * not that I can*...I'd say the different remixes could have been better or substituted with different tracks. Fave- Original Waiting for Magic and Fashion Party Least fave- don't have one Try looking for it on ebay because I'm not sure if any sites still sell it ------------ Spice Girls- Spice year- 1997 stars- **** Ok , if you don't know who the spice girls are- Congradulations you've been living under a rock for the past 5 years (yeah you..the person who probably didn't know who ace of base was.. u evil rock person u) Anyway, I'll keep this one short. It's a fun cd. Except for " naked" which I really think is..B-O-R-I-N-G..it's a good cd. The kinda cd you'd play at a party. Just like "Ace of Base- the Sign" it's one of those cds that everyone and their mother, grandmother, dead dog, and alien owns but won't admit to owning. fave songs- Wannabe, Who do you think you are(this has a kickass vid) least fave- NAKED..BLAH buy it here -------- Sister Soleil- Solarium by- sister soleil(they wrote it themselves..it's called talent) year- 1998 stars- ***** Get the feeling all the cds I'm reviwing thus far are ones I love? Yup. Ok this cd rocks my freakin knee high socks. The lead singer of this band is Stella Soleil..the one who had that hit this past summer called " kiss kiss." Yeah well her voice is great. This cd is..as it's described by people.. " harder" than her new solo stuff. It has lots of new agey sorta dance/rock and a few odd tracks that don't quite fit anywhere. It's angry, it's reflective, and gosh darning I love it. If anything, the lil songs in between the songs/spoken things..i dunno what' they're called..are sorta boring but that's what why we have a skip button. *big grin* fave songs- Little girl, red least fave- butterfly ------- Madonna- Erotica music by- Madonna year- 1992/1993 stars- *** It's kinky, what else can I say. The first 5 tracks are good and then they get a bit boring after that, but the album relieves itself with "Rain." This is one of the cds that the media called a "taboo" ( btw..i like that word)..but yeah they made a big deal about it. I have a the clean version and regular, it's not that bad. The title track is probably one of the best ones on the cd. If you have most of Madonna's cds and want another, get this one. If you dont' have many, start with her earlier stuff..this may not be for you. fave song- erotica, deeper and deeper least fave- bad girl buy it here -------- Abba- Abba gold music/produced by- Bjorn Ulvaeous and Benny Anderson year-1992 stars- ***** The best greatest hits cd ever. It's ABBA!!! This is the cd that started the Abba revival of the 90s. (although we know they never really faded away) It has ever one of their number one hits and once you put it on, you can't shut it off. There isn't much more I can say about it. If you have it you know what I mean. If you don't, you're seriously lacking a part of rock history. Fave songs- Dancing queen * LOOVE IT*, Voules Vous least fave- well I'm not a big fan of " lay all your love on me" buy it here -------- Back |
