Objectives:

The programme aims at helping students to:

enhance knowledge of world culture, especially about festival: Valentine's Day

read flexibly, i.e. to use different reading strategies to accomplish different reading purposes

increase general reading speed

practise skimming and scanning skills

learn to tolerate a degree of uncertainty in the meaning of words

use real world knowledge and experience to predict content and solve problems
