Parts of a Paragraph:

 

 

Topic Sentence:

The Topic Sentence indicates to the reader the main idea of a paragraph.

 

 

Supporting Details:

These sentences work to support the topic sentence or provide more detail and give to support to the facts and experiences, must be connected with the topic sentence

 

 

Closing Sentence

The closing sentence is the conclusion, or ending of the paragraph. The closing sentence should tie all the ideas in the paragraph together

 

 

Kinds of Paragraphs

 

Definition

This paragraph expresses the topic sentence  of form extended. Explain the main of topic sentence.

 

 

Classification

A classification paragraph divides people, places, things, or ideas in groups. These groups must have something in common.

 

 

Description

In a description paragraph it is detailed as she is a person, thing or place. This paragraph express qualities, place direction.

 

 

Compare and Contrast

In a compare and contrast paragraph, you write about the similarities and differences between two or more people, places, things, or ideas.

To compare, you must use examples to show how two things are alike; usually they will be alike in several important ways.

To contrast, you must use examples to show how two things are different; you should concentrate on the important differences.

 

 

Writing Practice Exercise #1

General Instructions: Please read the instructions for each part of the exercise. 

(a)Write one topic sentence for each of the following topics: 

  • Your hometown 

My hometown is Bruzual, city of state apure of people good

  • A place you would like to travel to.

I will want to travel to Peru, this country has much old culture

 (b)Choose one of the above topics and write ONE complete paragraph about it. You should use a good topic sentence and adequately detailed supporting sentences. You do not have to include a concluding sentence if you do not wish to do so.

II want to travel to Peru, this country has much old culture. Peru is a magical Earth country, and is  of diverse cultures, in special machu pichhu one of the wonders of the world.

Write paragraphs: 

 

(a) One Definition paragraph of at least seven sentences.

 

Computer Networks: Experts in the field of networking debate whether two computers that are connected together using some form of communications medium constitute a network. Therefore, some works state that a network requires three connected computers. A computer network is composed of multiple computers connected together using a telecommunication system for the purpose of sharing data, resources and communication. For instance, a home computer network may consist of two or more computers that share files and a printer using the network. The size and scalability of any computer network are determined by the hardware used as well as which protocols are being implemented. Two or more networks or network segments connected using devices that operate at layer 3 (the 'network' layer) of the OSI Basic Reference Model, such as a router. Any interconnection among or between public, private, commercial, industrial, or governmental networks may also be defined as an internetwork.

 

 

(b) One Classification paragraph with seven or more sentences.

 

The adverbs can be classified traditionally in several groups, as far as their values lexicon-semantic:

Adverb of time: soon, now, before, later, yesterday, today, tomorrow, then, behind schedule, etc…
Adverb of place: close, far, here, there, above, down, outside, around, there, there.
Adverb of way: Well, badly, thus, slowly, quickly, fast, free… And most of the finished ones in - being: slowly, quickly, happily.
Adverb of amount and intensity: more, less, little, enough, too much, very, much, as soon as, almost, means, something, nothing.
Adverb of affirmation: yes, also, certainly, sure of course, in effect, also.
Adverb of negation: no, never, never, either.
Adverb of doubt: perhaps, perhaps, perhaps, probably.

 

 (c) One Description paragraph with seven or more sentences.

 

Letter is a written message that serves so that the people communicate when they are far from another one. the letter generally has the following parts: place, date, greeting, body of the letter, goodbye and company/signature.

 

 (d) One Comparison paragraph with seven or more sentences.

 

My brother Antonio knows to cook very well, kitchen of similar way to cheff Italian. He has not received kitchen classes but he has learned very well, like one of them. He has a singular form of kitchen, He is as good as the chefs of “Casa Club TV”.

 

 (e) One Constract paragraph with seven or more sentences.

 

In Venezuela we have different landscapes that contrast with the existing reliefs, the case of Apure and Mérida, the state worries has savannahs, level, heat, however in the Mérida state there is mountains, cold and stop and under relief. Mérida has Great land Extensions by agricultura, in Apure the land is used with many cows.
