[December 14th, 2001]
The night before last, the TVB8 Mandarin Music Awards were presented at TVB Studios.
Faye Wong and newcomer Jay Zhou were the big winners as they walked away with three awards each.
The awards, however, seemed to be secondary to all the intrigue and inneundo that was floating amongst the various singers.
Nicolas Tse spent the night avoiding girlfriend Faye Wong. Instead, he spent most of the evening by the
side of Cecilia Cheung. Cecilia, in turn, spent the night avoiding Jordan Chan as rumours have circulated lately
suggesting the two are an item. However, most eyes were focused on what would happen between Eason Chan and Heavenly King Andy Lau.
Last month, Chan caused a stir when he hinted that, of the three Heavenly Kings, only Jacky Cheung produced albums worth buying.
Chan was widely criticized for the comment as it was seen as disrespectful. While Chan and Heavenly King Aaron Kwok appeared to have mended
fences, it appears Chan and Lau have not as they ignored each other at the event save for a cursory exchange of pleasantries.
Cecilia got the award for best song YI MEI (STUPID).

worried one bit about spending so much money. We worked very hard and had a lot of fun on the set so I wanted to have a little fun away from it. It doesn't
really matter how much it costs. Besides, I only bought one dinner per person."
