News in 2000

[September 2nd, 2000] The TVB Channel 8 Golden Hit List Awards were presented last night at ceremony held at TVB's Clearwater Bay studios. Among the winners were: Daniel Chan, Cecilia Cheung, William So, and Dave Wong. Daniel Chan and Cecilia Cheung avoided each other for the most part during the ceremony. However, producers of the ceremony had something else in mind as they had Daniel Chan present Cecilia Cheung with an award for her song from FLY ME TO POLARIS, SIN YI SIN YUEN. Later, when asked about Daniel Chan, Cecilia Cheung declared: "I will not talk about anything having to do with Tung-Tung (Chan)."
[May 1st, 2000] Cecilia's former agent Chu Wing-Lung recently introduced two new actresses to "replace" Cecilia. When asked for a response, Cecilia Cheung did not take the bait. Rather, she told reporters not to look at the new talent that way because it would put too much pressure on them. Nonetheless, she said that she would be disappointed in herself if she let the new talent worry her because there is constantly new talent flowing into the entertainment circle.
[May 1st, 2000] Cecilia Cheung was a guest at a taping of TVB's JADE SOLID GOLD. Cecilia got a few laughs when she did a bit spoofing Ekin Cheng's character in LEGEND OF SPEED. Meanwhile, JADE SOLID GOLD hosts Lui Fong and Nicola Cheung got a few laughs at Cecilia's expense by teasing her about rumours involving her and Daniel Chan.
[March 22nd, 2000] The Golden Sun Movie Awards were handed out yesterday at the Hong Kong Convention Centre. And Cecilia received award for best actress in Fly Me to Polaris! Congrats!

[March 21st, 2000] Cecilia Cheung's trouble with her manager Chu Wing Lung continues to dominate the headlines as the rumours become more sensational. Rumours abound that the triads are involved in the situation. Adding fuel to the fire, Chu's brother Chu Wing Tong suggested that Cecilia Cheung's family has approached Chu Wing-Lung several times for money to help them out of financial straits. At an event for Extra Wrap, Cheung denied Chu Wing-Tong's accusations and hinted that she is the victim in the situation.
[March 1st, 2000] Nominations for the 19th Annual HKFA Awards were announced yesterday. ORDINARY HEROES led the way with eight nominations while FLY ME TO POLARIS, LITTLE CHEUNG, and PURPLE STORM followed with seven each. Individually, Cecilia Cheung led the way three nominations while Johnnie To and Slyvia Chan followed with two. The awards will be presented on Sunday, April 16th at the Hung Hom Coliseum in a ceremony open, for the first time, to the movie-going public.
