Every Road Leads Back
In the midst of his own breakdown it would seem,
Dr. Chris Ramsey pushed himself aside as his best friend Dr. Eve Lambert
became the focus of his concerns. Observing her from afar,
Chris watched as Eve was forced to make a choice as a doctor in saving
the one woman who’s keeping her from the man she believes she is meant
to be with. Eve’s actions in the hospital proved to Chris that his
friend was not only an exceptional doctor, but a woman who’s hurting as
his question to Gabriella poignantly stated. Upon seeing Arianna
was in the clear, Gabriella noted that Arianna would be alright whereas
Chris’ concerns lay within the realm of Eve as he asked who would take
care of Eve?
Perhaps this is where the more gallant, loving
nature of Chris Ramsey comes in as his heart emerges and we see a man who’s
willingness to support his best friend supersedes everything else.
Upon seeing Eve’s painful retreat at the hospital after encountering Ian,
Chris followed her into the on call room where she was clearly a nervous
wreck. Seeing her distress and perhaps knowing her more than she
knows herself at times, he coaxed her into a back massage as he tried to
alleviate the obvious stress he was certain she was feeling. In classic
Chris Ramsey form, he reminded her that in his eyes she was an incredible
woman and that Kevin and Ian were fools to let her go. True to his
nature is his devotion for Eve. Any fool could clearly see how much
she means to him, but alas Eve is blinded by his genuine concern for her.
Having been friends for so long, Eve doesn’t take his declarations as more
than just simple friendly gestures and perhaps at the moment that is where
they should stay. One thing is for certain, however. Chris
is a true blue friend to Eve and when things seem to be at their bleakest,
somehow they always find their way back to one another. It’s reminds
me of that Bette Middler song, "Every Road Leads Back" and in the case
of Chris and Eve it is quite true when it says ‘every road just seems to
lead me back to you..." Yes, it may not lead them into the bedroom, nor
into being lovers, but what it leads them to one another is something deeper,
more profound as they have found a complete understanding and comfort in
one another that had outlived a great many relationships. While they
may not have heated the sheets together, they’ve warmed out hearts and
in turn brought to life a magic that exists only for Chris and Eve.

to be a change from good friends to something more. That's doesn't happen
