SAT II Writing ~7 (timed essay - 20 minutes)
The saying "the squeaky hinge gets the grease" means that some action is done only when a word of complaint or request to make a change is actually made; and I definitely agree with the idea. Specific events in history, such as French Revolution, and many social systems in general serve as good examples of how this is indeed true.
The French Revolution is probably the most famous revolutino of all where the peasants revolted and claimed for equality. It serves as a great example how the 'squeaky hinge gets grease.' The peasants' situations in 19th century France were devastating; they suffered from lack of every basic supply of living, and even the tiny amount they had was mostly taken away for taxation. Unless they mustered up courage to speak out and demand more as they had, their desperation would have continued with their agony unheard, and their situation unaltered.
Our society has many systems that enable us to speak for improvement and attain it. In schools, there is a student council that fathers students' opinions and tries to make the school a better place. In every city and every state, there is a governor and a senator with ears open for any suggestion in order to make living more pleasant and safe. With those kinds of social institutions, we are constantly able to express our needs and improve. Our society is an excellent example where 'the squeaky hinge gets the grease.'
We have lived and still live in a society where there are always room for suggestion and improvement. These, as perfect examples, show how we say what we want, and get what we want.
NOTE >> I have not a single idea about the French Revolution, but had to write about it because of my lack of effiency in my malfunctioning brain.
if anything is wrong, please, pardon me.
