"Double D" was a dominant force in BBA from 2002-2003. He was one of the few big-men that the BBA had to offer, and he was a force to be reckoned with. He made his debut in the summer of 2002, but wasn't the same person. In his first couple of matches, Davis seemed hesitant. He wasn't victorious very often in the early-going, and it seemed like he was destined to become an enhancement talent.

However, a career changing moment came in one of the most unexpected turn of events. Don Davis was scheduled to wrestle the heavily favored Impostor on an mid-summer event in 2002. Don Davis man-handled The Impostor, a sight that never had, and never was duplicated again. Impostor wasn't able to do anything, and Davis had sent a message to the BBA. Davis continued to roll over opponents throughout the summer but never found a situation that could better himself. He defeated Rich Field in his PPV debut at Hotter Than Hell in a match thrown together with no hype. He later would go toe-to-toe with the likes of Real Deal Rob, Calypso, and Chuck Fury.

Prior to his rivalry with Chuck Fury, he participated in a brief feud with former World Heavyweight Champion Calypso. After several brutal exchanges which saw some devastating blockbusters, superplexes, and even a devastating top-rope implant DDT...Don Davis was beginning to gain momentum. In perhaps the most infamous moment of this feud, Don Davis would superplex Calypso off the turnbuckle which would lead Calypso to over-turn in the fall and badly injured his ankle. In a rare show of sportsmanship, Don Davis was one of the several BBA Brawlers to help Calypso to the backstage area.

A series of matches with the BBA's other big-man, Chuck Fury is really what cemented Double D as a legitimate threat. The two of them put on three of the greatest matches the BBA ever offered. They both showed off their strength, and amazing agility for their size. Performing swantoms, rolling sentons, blockbusters became the on-going trend in their amazing series. The second match, which took place at the Total Carnage PPV, saw Don Davis defeat Chuck Fury to advance to the World Title main event later in the show. Although he wouldn't win, Davis proved to everyone that he belonged.

Perhaps Double D's future had championship reigns in the horizon, however, BBA was coming to an end just as he was coming into his own. At Realm of Champions II: The Final Approach, he once again defeated his rival Chuck Fury in a No Disqualification match to set the tone for the send-off show for the Backyard Brawlers Association.
