How to get Adaptec's latest ASPI update (V4.57) without having any Adaptec software or hardware? (thanks to Nicholas)

For the program to work perfect it seems you need the newest wnaspi32.dll you can get. Well I wanted the newest version. So I downloaded the upgrade ASPI32.EXE from http://www.adaptec.com/support/files/upgrades.html#ezscsi. Unfortunately, I have no Adaptec SCSI devices or programs, so the upgrade would not install...and you can't buy the upgrade from Adaptec. I have no need for any SCSI controllers or any of their programs (I'd much rather buy from the shareware market and not feed big business). So I improvised. This is what I did:

Adaptec ASPI drivers under Windows 95 and Windows 98

How to recover the original 'wnaspi32.dll' from the Windows 95 CD-ROM:

If you have Adaptec SCSI Adapter or Adaptec's software like EZ-SCSI, Easy CD-Pro, DirectCD, Easy CD Creator, etc. You can download the latest ASPI drivers from the Adaptec's WWW-site.

Adaptec's ASPI for Win32 (ASPI32.EXE)

Adaptec ASPI drivers under Windows NT4 and Windows NT5

Windows NT does not have ASPI for Win32 as default, but if you have Adaptec SCSI Adapter or Adaptec's software like EZ-SCSI, Easy CD-Pro, DirectCD, Easy CD Creator, etc. You can download the latest ASPI drivers from the Adaptec's WWW-site.

Adaptec's ASPI for Win32 (ASPI32.EXE)

But...if you don't have any Adaptec stuff you can try this:

ftp://ftp.tardis.ed.ac.uk/users/psyche/cdrom/drivers/aspi32old.exe

It's older ASPI version designed only for Windows NT.
