Special Notice:
The College of Charleston Department of Physics and the Low Country Star Gazers will allow you to view a double feature on November 8th.

The groups will be setting up telescopes at White Point Garden (the Charleston Battery on East Battery) and allow the public to view a total lunar eclipse and view of Mars.  The viewing will be held from 6:30 p.m. untill 9:30 p.m on Saturday November 8th.

"This upcoming eclipse is well placed for observation because the entire eclipse occurs in the early evening hours," says Terry Richardson, college of Charleston Astronomy Professor.

The public viewing is also an excellent oppurtunity for young children with early bedtimes to see Mars and still be home and in bed on time.  The south polar cap remains visible and other features can still be seen if the air is steady" says Richardson.  Students, faculty, and club members will be available to answer any questions during the viewing.  For more information, contact the College of Charleston Physics and Astronomy Office at (843) 953-5593.
