IOP related Problems

•After switching on IOP, no message displayed on console terminal
Verify power supply section, EPROM on controller cards, cabling on to console terminal or terminal
•Boot block corruption messages
Format the hard disk and load full software deliverables
•While loading on IOP, "no disk space" message comes onto terminal
Format the hard disk and load software once again
•Getting display of "un-correctable error" on console terminal
Hard disk may be faulty. Format the disk and try again
•While booting IOP, error message displays on terminal
Proper shut down and booting procedure to be followed
•While loading the software, error comes as ‘get help’ perhaps ‘c’ option to be used.
Cartridge or cartridge drive may be faulty
CRP fail to be run with error "IPCRM ERROR CASE RMIF“
Execute the command in iop prompt;
IOP5x> ipcrm -Q805
•Sometimes on IOP prompt control D not found message displayed after giving control D
Copy CRP files from base cartridge
•Not accepting any command on console port
In the operator terminal, find the pid number for console and kill the process.
iop5X> ps -ef | grep console
note down the PID value (XXXX)
IOP5x>kill -9 xxxx
‘ Now console login will appear in the console terminal’
•By mistake at the time of software loading same IOP ID given on both the IOP
First identify which is IOP-0 and IOP-1, then give SET IOPID command in /code/audit directory, and then shut down and boot the IOP.
•Sometimes used cartridges cannot be able to overwrite in the used catridges
Use expiry over option and use the cartridge.
•Displ-tape-info, copy-out, copy-in command executed but says tape is not in proper format
Cartridge or cartridge drive may be faulty
Messages scroll continuously on console like "message free pool"
Shut down, reboot the IOP or format the hard disk and load the software
•Frequent messages display on terminal like "medium error on drive
Cartridge drive may be faulty.
•In ‘/u’ directory the free blocks becomes ‘0’ sometimes
Shut down and reboot the IOP.
•Some times on console terminal few lines will be displayed like "trans-etnl-seg"
Transaction files may not be matching on both the IOPs. Nullify the ‘iotmsg’ and ‘iotind’ files in both IOPS after taking ‘trnsf’ back up.
•Getting warning message for disc space falling below threshold
If the free space goes below 5% of the allotted value this warning message is displayed. Remove unwanted files and increase the disk space. (Create space utility can be executed)
•Whenever inter change command is executed on ‘IOP’ or ‘AP’ in case of MBM / ‘BP’ in case of SBM, IOP goes out of sync.
It could be due to fault in either IOP controller card or AP controller card in AM or BP controller card in case of SBM or wrong cabling between IOP and AP/BP
• At times IOP status goes to DISPL-UPDATE-ALL level
Verify the status by giving displ-iop-level command and check AP communication is through if not bring into warm start level shut down and boot the IOP and sync.
