From the 2002 Black Bear Rally, James Stulen at the wheel of his 1981 VW Scirroco tackling the "triple yumps".
The name Scirroco comes from the African desert and means "hot wind".The Black Bear this year could have used some warm winds to dry out the wet conditions!
Right. Andrew Comrie-Picard drove well in the inaugural Galway Cavendish Rally. He was closing in on his rivals when the motor began to lose oil pressure. He wisely shut it down and did not finish .
Below. Ever wonder how the quick drivers started out? Here is Andrew Comrie-Picard at the Swift Rapids Rally of 2001 in a Lada Samara. He drove a  very determined rally and finished despite numerous mechanical difficulites. He was rewarded with the Press On Regardless award for his efforts.
So - how do I get close to the action, you ask? There really is no better choice than to be a marshal. See the cars, the drivers and co-drivers in flight. Be an important  part of the rally without spending a fortune on equipment! Without the volunteers working behind the scenes, the whole event simply wouldn't happen.
