Ken Roach's 65 289 Hi-Po
SOLD

1965 Falcon 62A 2 door post Original Canadian DSO(Dealer Special Order) 271C.I. HP 289 factory built drag car. There were reportedly only 7 of these made in 1965, and one of only 2 left on this planet.

The option was available only in Canada. It came with a Ford 4 speed toploader manual trans and 9" differential, heavy duty suspension and special export brace. This particular car has a very colourful history, starting out as a sponsored drag car in Tilbury Ontario, then becoming a street driven car with racing on weekends, back to a street driven car, then a winter beater, then a restoration project, back to a race car and now it is a street vehicle again. I have a very complete documented history including many older photos. I have a bill of sale (not for this car, but for the only other one around) that athenticates its existance, etc, etc.

This car was featured in the January 2002 edition of "Muscle Car Review" magazine. Car has what I consider to be a modest reserve price ($6500 U.S.). Informed car buffs tell me that this car if completely restored would be worth nothing less than $25,000 U.S. It is currently appraised at $18,000 Canadian (about $11,000 U.S.). I have an MS Word document available to email anyone who is interested in this car. It has all information about everything good and bad on the vehicle in its current condition. Price is "as-is", where-is" - you take it as it is and arrange shipping to where you are and pay for any other costs involved in getting it to you. Terms are cash, certified check, or I take PayPal - absolutlely no personal checks accepted.

This is a unique opportunity to own a very rare and unsual piece of automotive history. *NOTE* - THIS IS NOT A "NUMBERS MATCHING CAR" As far as I can find out, Ford of Canada does not even know how many of these were actually built as nobody bothered to keep any records (other than the dealers in their "special order" books). The only reason that I know the quantity made is by an actual copy of a letter submitted to NHRA in July of 1965 by the dealer in Tilbury indicating "seven units only for special order". He was given this number by John Phillips, then Performance Advisor for Ford of Canada, based on production numbers at that time. There may have been others produced, but if they were, no one knows of them. It would be impossible to get a "numbers matching" 65 HiPo Falcon due to this anomoly. Even if the car had the original drivetrain, there would be no way that I am aware of to substantiate it.
