12 inch square

H hook or size needed for gauge.

Rnd 1: Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. Ch 3, dc in ring, (ch 2, 2 dc) in ring 7 times. Ch 2, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 3. (8 ch 2 sps)

Rnd 2: Sl st in next st and in ch 2 sp. Ch 1, sc in same sp. (Ch 3, sc in next ch 2 sp) 7 times. Ch 1, join with hdc in beginning sc. (8 ch 3 sps)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same sp. (Ch 4, sc in next ch 3 sp) 7 times. Ch 4, join with sl st in beginning sc. (8 ch 4 sps)

Rnd 4: Sl st in next ch 4 sp. Ch 1, (3 sc, ch 2, 3 sc) in same sp and in next 7 sps. Join with sl st in beginning sc.

Rnd 5: Sl st in next 2 sc and into ch 2 sp. Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same sp. * Ch 3, sk 3 sc, dc between sc sts. Ch 3, sk 3 sc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch 2 sp. Repeat from * 7 times. Ch 3, sk 3 sc, dc between sc sts, ch 3, sk 3 sc, join with sl st in beginning sc. (24 ch 3 sps)

Rnd 6: Sl st into ch 3 sp. Ch 1, 3 sc in same sp and in next 23 sps. Join with sl st in beginning sc. (72 sc)

Rnd 7: Sl st in next sc. Ch 1, sc in same st. (Ch 3, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc) 23 times. Ch 1, join with hdc in beginning sc. (24 ch 3 sps)

Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in same sp. (Ch 4, sc in next ch 3 sp) 23 times. Ch 4, join with sl st in beginning sc. (24 ch 4 sps)

Rnd 9: Sl st in next ch 4 sp. Ch 4, (2 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) in same sp. *# 3 dc in next ch 4 sp, 3 hdc in next ch 4 sp, 3 sc in next ch 4 sp, 3 hdc in next ch 4 sp, 3 dc in next ch 4 sp, * (3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) in next ch 4 sp. Repeat from # twice, then from * to * once. Join with sl st in 4th ch of beginning ch 4.

Rnd 10: Sl st in next 2 sts and into ch 2 sp. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp. *# Dc in each st across to next corner. * (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch 2 sp. Repeat from # twice, then from * to * once. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 3. (27 dc per side)

Rnd 11: Sl st in next 2 sts and into ch 2 sp. Ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) in same sp. *# (Ch 2, sk next st, sc in next st) 13 times, ch 2, * (sc, ch 2, sc) in next corner ch 2 sp. Repeat from # twice, then from * to * once. Join with sl st in beginning sc. (14 ch 2 sps per side)

Rnd 12: Sl st into corner ch 2 sp. Ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp. *# 2 dc in each ch 2 sp across to next corner, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch 2 sp. Repeat from # twice, then from * to * once. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 3. (32 dc per side)

Rnd 13: Sl st in next st and into corner ch 2 sp. Ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp. *# Dc in back loop only of each st across to next corner. * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch 2 sp. Repeat from # twice, then from * to * once. Finish off. (36 dc per side)
