Laboratory Notebook Guidelines

* All reports are done in a composition notebook*
1.  Make sure to identify your notebook clearly.
2.  Create a Table of Contents, approximately 2 pages to list experiments and
     find them  easily.
3.  Number all the pages.
4.  Always start a new lab on a fresh page.
5.  You must create a Prelab before starting.  It is an outline of the final lab
     report.
6.  Writing the final lab report.
     a. Title of lab. Identify your lab partners in this section.
     b. Introduction/ Background (3rd Person).  Introduce the lab and include
         background information pertaining to your present studies or knowledge.
         Identify any terms that are new or unusual.  Finally, clearly state the
         problem statement.
     c.  Hypothesis.  What is the outcome of this lab?
     d.  Summary of Procedures that you have done.  Please discuss your
         problems, any changes and errors that might have occurred during the lab.
     e.  Data.  This consist of 2 parts:   a) qualitative and  b) quantitative
     f.    Data Analysis.  Explain your data in terms of calculation or graphic

          representations.
     g. Conclusion.  In a brief paragraph, conclude the lab.  Make sure that you
         have answered various question found in the laboratory experiment.  Did
         any future question arise after completing after this lab( and all other labs)?
