The Pre-Season favorites of the CDFL too one step forward to claiming their third franchise title with an opening week victory over new comer SexyMama69. Jackson running back Shaun Alexander ran for two scores and caught a third in scoring a game high 25 points. That was more than enough for the Neersters to defeat the rookie GM from Martins Ferry.

The win perhaps came at a cost that will send the Neersters into uncertainty. Player of the Game Alexander missed part of the game after suffering an injury late in the game. An injury that leaves his status for next week�s meeting against the 1-0 Hayashi Silver Dragons in doubt. The Neersters also suffered a season-ending injury to their second year wide receiver Charles Rogers. Rogers broke a collarbone early in the game � the same collarbone he broke last season resulting in shortened year. Jackson looks to still have enough depth to cover Rogers, and Alexander likely will play next week but now is listed as day-to-day.

SexyMama69�s running back Marshall Faulk led team scoring with 8 points. He was the lone bright spot as the Neerster defense held the rest of the team in check. Quarterback Tommy Maddox and wide receiver Drew Bennett both were shut out of scoring.

SexyMama looks to get on the winning track next weekend vs. the defending champion 1-0 Wallachia Raiders. .
