OFF TO A SLOW START

Hayashi 40, Apex 35

For what was deemed a battle of two playoff likely teams, the Hayashi Silver Dragons and Apex Avengers faced off in a yawner to open the 2004-05 CDFL Season. Neither team showed dominance nor had more than an average performance by any of the players thought to be team leaders.

Hayashis Randy Moss scored twice and completed a 37-yard pass, almost resulting in another score, however the Apex defense shut down the rest of the team. QB Matt Hasselbeck, considered a steal in the second round by Hayashi GM Mark Trollinger was held to one score and an interception.

Apexs highlight reel shows little more than a short TD to Wide Receiver Marvin Harrison. All other scorers were held to four points or less by Hayashis Defense. In fact, the defense was Hayashis leading scorer as the Bears defense earned 16 of the Silver Dragons points. In the end, it was the Silver Dragon Defense that held on for the win.

Next week Hayashi meets Jackson (1-0) and Apex squares off against Louiesville (0-1) .
