MOSCOW MAULED

Buckeye 85, Moscow 42

The Buckeye Beasts opened the season looking exactly like the pre-season contenders predicted. The Moscow Maulers entered the confines of Brutal Stadium much the same way the Christians used to enter the ancient Roman stadiums. Instead of fighting lions, Moscow found itself Mauled by the Beasts as Buckeye hit on all cylinders.

Moscow was able to gain some success on the ground as Running Back Clinton Portis scored and totaled over 150 yards rushing, earning 13 of the teams points. Quarterback Marc Bulger found paydirt once, but slowed in the second half due to injury. Only scoring 9 points, Bulger also finds himself questionable for Moscows week 2 meeting with Tempe.

The lone let down for Buckeye was kicker Mike Vanderjagt missing a field goal, lowering his total to 4 points. The Beasts had more than enough offense to combat that as Quarterback Donovan McNabb threw 4 TDs for 30 points and first round draft selection Ahman Green showed why GM Jerry Starlin chose him as he scored three times for 23 points. Wide Receiver Issac Bruce contributed 11 points to the total as well.

With the highest scoring display in week 1, nearly doubling their opponent, Buckeye not only marches into Banzai atop the leader board in standing, but also in CDFL Power Ranking. A team that last season was decimated by injuries finished up their opening match with an impressive win.
