Class A hand knitting yarns 7 stitches per inch (light weight) Fingering weight light weight. Baby items,socks, gloves, summer sweaters, light weight sweaters. Test swatches should be 4" square. Check two ways 1.the total width of the piece. Divide the # of stitches in the piece by the inches width. If there are 32 dlb. crochet stitches in the swatch and the swatch is 4" wide. Divide 32x4. Your gauge is 8 dlb. crochet = 1". 2. The # of stitches in the middle of the swatch count the stiches count the stitches in one inch. |
The ' rub test' place 4 or 5 strands between thumb and first to fingers. Firmly rub back and forth. If yarn feels warm or starts to fuzz it will not hpld up. |
Threads are sold according to size # the higher the number the finer the thread. size 100 is the smallest commercial thread. requires # 14 steel hook size 50 is sewing thread. |
