The 1st thing to do was to extract the old 235 and the rest of the drive train. The engine still had a lot of life left in it. It was sold to a guy named Patrick Dykes in Casa Grande AZ. He runs a shop called Patricks Antiques and specializes in making these old inline engines go fast He also hot rods old flat head Fords. If your looking for that sort of nostalgic speed gear, he's the man.
Out with the Old
The engine bay was pretty dingy. I decided that now would be a good time to spruce things up a bit. I wasn't trying to do a ground up resto show winner, but I couldn't put a new engine into this dirty old closet. So I pressure washed it then scuffed it all up real good and sprayed all of the rusty areas with rust converter.
Next I masked off everything but the firewall, engine compartment and the area behind the grill. Then it was time for some good primer
A few coats of white and black later, we now have a suitable place to start working on placing a new V8.
