In Arizona, a fan shroud is mandatory if you want your A/C to work it's best,l as well as your engine cooling. Especially if your running R-134 in the A/C. Shrouds for this year of truck seem to be non existent in the wild. The assembly manuals show illustrations but I have yet to spot one anywhere. I did find a something similiar on a 63 Impala but the diameter was too small for my clutch fan. I suspect this would be the case if I found a truck version anyway. The after market parts places have new ones for the 1963 and newer trucks (as usual). Vintage Air has some universal plastic ones but the dimensions didn't really match up and they cost more than they're worth, so I was left to my own devices. After much banging and welding I came up with a simple box with a hole in it and mounting tabs to mate to the radiator brackets. Not too elegant but it works. The fan is a 20 inch unit scrounged from a 1973 Caprice, with a new clutch from NAPA. |
