Earth Mother is a great big painting by Elm Van Pelt that took him forever to do and has always made my eyes water. Dropping my bike at his workplace door and stepping inside to watch this work develop over many months was a visual adventure ride. I wanted to buy it but figured out I could only afford to pay him about a nickel an hour for all the time he'd put in and he needed to get at least two bucks so he went elsewhere. I know he didn't want to sell it. Who would?
Anyway it hangs now in some office building in Mayaguez and I need to get over there sometime to look at it more.
Elm saw this place a few miles north of here. I know right where it is but it just looks like a roadside view to me. But when Elmer looks at things they tend to explode in his head.
If you'ld like to take a peek at Earth Mother squished down to monitor size- click the metronome and get some coffee. Enjoy... |
