Parent Rights
Parents and guardians are always able to visit their child(ren) anytime they are present at the center, unless court ordered to the contrary.
Parents may request to meet with program staff at any time.
Parents can ask to see their child's file at any time and can request photocopies of materials within it.
Parents can expect the program to be sensitive to and accommodate their child(ren)'s special needs.
Parents can request a report of their child(ren)'s day, activities, well-being at any time.
Parents can call to ask about the well being of their child(ren) during the day.
Parents may and are encouraged to join in classroom and field trip activities.
Parents have the right to be treated with dignity and respect by the staff.
Parents can be assured that
- no service will be provided without their written and signed consent
- all information regarding their child(ren) and family is strictly confidential
- no material is shared with others without parental written release, (except in cases of expressed or implied child abuse or neglect)
- Parents can serve any complaints regarding the services rendered to the families by the center through the following procedure:
- complaint/challenge is made to the classroom team leader
- if satisfaction is not achieved, complaint/challenge is then taken
- first to the program director
- then to the executive director
- lastly to the Board of Directors until satisfaction is achieved
Parent Responsibilities
Parents are responsible for updating all intake information when any change occurs. Especially important are persons authorized for pick-up, phone numbers for emergency contacts, addresses, new stresses/conditions in the child's life which may impact her/his behavior at the center.
Parents are responsible for insuring their children are appropriately dressed for the season, (e.g., snow suits, mittens, hats, boots in winter).
Parents are responsible for providing at least one extra complete set of clothing each day to be left for the day in their child's cubby.
Parents are responsible to return extra clothing and classroom materials which may be loaned or mistakenly taken from the center.
Parents or a dependable alternate must be able to be reached by phone when their child is present at the center.
Parents must be willing to keep children home when they are sick.
