Not much new, but c'mon, what do you expect from a broken up band!?

Actually, there is one new thing to report: two new songs uploaded to CCS' myspace profile. These include my ALL TIME FAVORITE CCS track 'Street Fair' from the eventually-to-be released 'Live At WMUC April 14th 2002' full length. And perrenial CCS favorite 'Pizza', the best track from the controversial CCS "II" c.d., which by the way can be purchased for a mere $4 plus postage from the Baths Of Power catalogue.

Cory Davolos(ex-Human Host member/current member of A.P.E.)has decided to bring Baths Of Power back to it's original form as a distro specializing in underground music/ephemera from the Baltimore vicinity, mostly from d.i.y. punk, h.c., and highly original artists.

Though he won't be consistently tabling at mid Atlantic d.i.y. shows like we did a few years back, he will be handling mail order for all NON-Human Host material distributed from the catalogue on this site.

Of his many new accquisitions since returning to the Baths fold most notable are those from the illustrious Terra Firma Records catalogue which you will find all listed on the Baths page here.

If you would like /Baths Of Power to distro your band's stuff DON'T contact me a.k.a. Mike Apichella, contact Corey direct via his e-mail address listed here.

You all still need to contact me in regards to mail order for Human Host records/merch or anything else related to Human Host(my address is still found here on this site or on HH's website).

first things first: WWW.MYSPACE.COM/CHARMCITYSUICIDES

and, AT LONG LAST Human Host has t-shirts....

These black cotton t-shirts come in medium, small, large, and extra large and feature a FEARSOME black & white six eyed monster face design that is essentially the same as the HH sticker design(which you can see on the MT6 Records webpage), except it's colors are mostly reversed with much of the black being where the white was on the sticker.

very soon all of Human Host's online outposts will have a scan of the t-shirt for you to look at - we just got them yesterday, so please be patient, hopefully we'll have the scans all up by next week.

the shirts will eventually be available in local(Baltimore, Md. USA) stores and MAYBE some other stores outside of the metro area, but for now they are only being sold at any of the upcoming Human Host shows(for when/where these are see the HH myspace profile or website: www.angelfire.com/ultra/hh) or get them for sale at $10 per shirt plus shipping through the mail via Baths Of Power distro.

Available for a very LIMITED time, we now have Human Host bookmarks; check the Baths section for details on these.

Brian Dubin has found some rare CCS VIDEO FOOTAGE of us playing at NYC's legendary ABC NO RIO has been posted up on the site youtube.com. Just do a search for it once you get there.

Also, the new Human Host cd Exploding Demon is now available from Baths Of Power, MT6, and many other outlets. Contact MT6 Records for more info.

And c.d.'s by Water School and Mike Gittings(of Human host and Water School)have been added to the Baths catalogue.

3 NEW PHOTOS have been posted up in the pictures section. All three are from CCS' one and only show at the legendary 924 Gilman St. circa summer 2002 in Berkley, Ca. These were taken by Ashley Cunningham.

And I must say yet again, unless Human Host releases another record on Baths Of Power, there won't be anymore Human Host updates on THIS site - Human Host now has THEIR OWN webpage:

Charm City Suicides' "II" c.d. has recieved 2 other distributors! In additon to Ebullition, Metaphysics, Baths Of Power, and Planaria Inc., Very Distribution now also carries "II". Check out their webpage for ordering instructions: www.verydistro.com

And Charm City Suicides 'II' can be found in Europe at
X-mist Records(www.x-mist.de). Release The Bats of Sweden and DP Distro of Holland will soon also be providing distro for this c.d., probably around October.

We've loaded yet another batch of new old CCS photos into the pictures section, including one from the summer 2000 tour, a tour which recieved very little photo doncumentation. Full credits and info on each page from the photo section can be found at the bottom of this update.

More new developements in the Human Host world: our split with Fridge A just came out last month(see the 'Baths' section for the description/price/ordering info on this)and within the next few months we will be putting the finishing touches on a collection of Human Host songs that will be released on HIT DAT Records - currently the home to Economist, Double Dagger, Methyl Orange, and myriad of other bold artists from Maryland's underground. We look forward to being a part of the Hit Dat family!

To find out more about Hit Dat take a look at their webpage.

Total Confusion Dept.:
In the last few updates I've made to this page there has been mention of inconsistencies concerning the personell info on the 1st CCS album. It was stated in an earlier update that Damir Marusic and Josh Marchant played all the guitar/drum parts on CCS' first record. Actually several different drummers played on this album (3 to be exact), so now, hopefully this will be the final time I have to explain this. This time I will simply list the songs on CCS' s/t first album (and also for the last time, CCS' first l.p. is NOT called 'The Worst' - do any of you see the words 'The Worst' ANYWHERE on the front cover!?) Next to each song title the personell for each song is listed:
1. The Worst - Josh on guitar, Damir on drums, Walker on bass, me on vocals
2. 9/6/99 - Josh on guitar, Damir on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
3. Still Can't Get Paid - Josh on guitar, Damir on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
4. I Wanna Get With You - Josh on guitar, Chris Johnson on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
5. Viscous Circle - Josh on guitar, Mickey Freeland on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
6. Pit Of Sorrow - Josh on guitar, Mickey on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
7. Rise And Shine - Josh on guitar, Damir on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
8. Out At The Reservoir - Josh on guitar, Damir on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
9. Now Is The Time - Josh on guitar, Damir on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
10. Pesticide Rock - Josh on guitar, Mickey on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox
11. Heroin Sucks - Josh on guitar, Damir on drums, Walker on bass, me on vox

We're still broken up.

Here's a few words from the illustrious TIM KABARA on the break-up/history of CCS - I thought this was really nice:

'In Memoriam: Charm City Suicides (Oct. 1997- Nov. 2002)

How can one begin to describe the Charm City Suicides? For five years they have been a force to be reckoned with, sparing man nor beast nor all ages punk venue in their mission to let the world know that life is worth living, to let America feel their ecstatic, fiery joy. Now, it is finished, and we are left to evaluate, discuss, and examine the shards of broken pottery in an attempt to understand just what it was that has been witnessed. Perhaps I am too close to the whole thing. Mike (vocals) and Josh (guitar) were my roommates. I have worked creatively with both. I had the privilege of seeing CCS in many spaces and places over the course of their existence, through various permutation and changes. I watched and heard “Girls in My Neighborhood” go from its early incarnation as a pop walk in the park to a romp of unmeasured and uncontainable energy. I had coffee with Damir (drums) at Borders and talked about Thomas Pynchon.

Although the music is still available, the live show is sadly over, and it was here that the band never failed to steadfastly refuse to be boring. Some highlights:
Synapse Gallery, Baltimore City(fall 1999?- M.A.): Crowd cowers as CCS smashes and bashes. Mike breaks mic. Takes to screaming on top of PA speaker. Leaps downward, begins attacking golf club bag for some unknown crime (maybe drum-related, as bag served as drum stand caddy). Gets golf bag stuck on leg. Thrashes on floor screaming for remainder of set, kicking at the crowd with gigantic leg appendage.
Community Hall, Towson(winter 2001 - M.A.): Set going beautifully. Mike rips off shirt, grabs jumbo permanent marker (blue). Stabs all over face and chest. Josh stays behind amp from about then on. Band thumps into “Unanswered.” Mike leaps over drum set, which he is behind, into pogoing teenage crowd, singing, mic in hand, never missing a beat.
Rural Maryland College, Music Festival (spring 1999 - M.A.): Band assaults college crowd aurally in echo filled room. Leaden, sinister sounding set. Mike goes into the crowd, begins putting arm around people while singing, confiding in them. Encounters drunk college asshole who is screaming. Mike and drunk screaming asshole go off down hallway screaming together as band plays on.
Payan’s Rugs, Spring: CCS in full ninja gear gives it to us raw. Tight, heavy, and out of control. Mouthing the words to “Pizza” to a friend and having the friend realize: “Pizza is my favorite/ food in the world/ I almost like it even more/ than I like girls…”
Old Ottobar, Winter(2000 - M.A.): Hearing “Heroin Sucks” for the first time*, being both moved and amazed. Realizing that these were the two chords that Mike had been hammering out for months now in his room. Watching that song become an anthem.

The aspect of Charm City Suicides noted above came to an end on November 30th, 2002. However, to polish a clich頡nd make it look all spiffy and new, the music and the spirit and the idea will live on. Every time a dude goes BMXing and feels the wind in his hair down at the reservoir, every time someone realizes that maybe the musical answer is simpler than it seems, every time the joyful noise of the backyard and the garage rumbles and the revolution of the everyday begins again, Charm City Suicides will be there, and they will cover themselves with green blood and it will be awesome.....'-Tim Kabara
*(actually 'Heroin Sucks' debuted at a show in NYC at Jaye/ORCHID's loft in spring 2000)

Thanks Tim. The BOVA rulez!
Peace.

November 1st, 2002

As stated in last month's update CCS is soon to be gone for good. Playing in the band was a truly rewarding experience and we just can't thank all of our supporters and fans enough for providing us with the oppurtunity to share our creation with a wide array of people all over this country.

This site will remain eternally(?) the home base of Charm City Suicides and as of December 2002 I will be taking over the webmastering for this site.

This news section will continue to include updates concerning future posthumous CCS releases (believe it or not there are MANY in the works) in addition to the ever expanding CCS photo archive in the pictures section. Hopefully Chris Martinelli has posted those older, non-summer 2002 tour photos with WALKER, Damir, and Josh by now, but as of this writing I'm not really sure if that's the case. They'll be up eventually.

Also look for the addition of a Baths Of Power section containing this fledgling record label's complete catalogue. Speaking of BP there has been a MAJOR addition to the BP distro: Now availble THE ORGAN DONORS 7" e.p. 2 vocalists, a Radio Shack analogue synth, and blasting prog-rock drumming all add up to create the chaotic power and beauty known as The Organ Donors. On tour of the U.S. east coast now! $4.00

More important Baths news: the exact release date for the FRIDGE A c.d.e.p. has not yet been selected, but Corey and I are positive the date will occur in the summer of 2003. Hopefully we can convince them to do a few dates out of town in support of the release. We're not promising anything, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Aside from 2 D.C. area shows (and a possible Ct./NJ weekend of gigs slotted for Nov.) CCS' final public appearance is still set to go down on Saturday November 30th at The Ottobar in Baltimore, Md. This will be open to ALL AGES. The Means (from Ohio), Mannequin(Page 99's GRUNGECORE side-project band), and long time CCS allies/one of the greatest h.c. bands ever The Clancy 6 will round out the bill of our farewell show. This show will also be Reptilian Records' 13th Birthday Party, so please try to be as sacriligous as possible while attending.

Admission charge for this event will be $7.00, and we highly advise that you buy tickets IN ADVANCE. Oh, and the rumours are true, founding CCS guitarist JOSH MARCHANT will be performing with us on 11/30 as lead guitarist - Brian Dubin will play rythym guitar, while Walker, Brendan, and myself hold down our respective roles.

We hope to see you there.
