ToK Assignment #3
Read pages 34 to 41 of Man is the Measure and answer the following:
- What does Nietzsche mean by "the fallacy of the immaculate perception?"
- Give an example, other than that of the text, for persistence of convention.
- Think of an experiment we could perform on campus to exemplify the influence of belief on perception. Give a brief description of the experiment. We will hopefully get some good ideas and be able to perform the best experiment(s)...
- There are plenty of examples of optical illusions available on the web. Do a search to find some and pick your favorite to share with the class. (Look for auditory illusions as well, if you like.)
