Science and Technology Fair Final Report
Your final report should be between 5 and 10 pages in Microsoft Word format and should consist of the following sections:
Title page: containing a title, the names of all partners and the date.
Introduction: containing a description of the topic of your experiment, your hypothesis and how you tested it (paragraph 1) and what personal and social issues motivated you to choose this topic (paragraph 2).
Background: containing a full description of the scientific theories that underlie your topic (2 paragraphs) and a discussion of the history and applications associated with the topic (2 paragraphs).
Procedure: a description of your apparatus and what you did in your experiment. It MUST be complete enough that the reader could reproduce your experiment from the description if they wanted to. (Think recipe.)
Data and results: a description of the data that you gathered and any graphs and calculations that you did with them.
Discussion and conclusions: containing a brief summary of the results and their interpretation in light of your hypothesis and the theory (paragraph 1); discussion of what went wrong with your experiment and how you would go about fixing it (paragraph 2); and a discussion of the next steps you would take to expand and improve your results (paragraph 3).
Bibliography:
containing more than 4 sources from the WWW,
magazines and books as well as the information about your mentor. You should cite these sources in the body of
your report.
