Physical Science Assignment #5

Open the page here in a new window to do the following:

  1. Try the first animation. After the car hits the wall in what direction, if any, is it accelerating? In what direction, if any, is the driver accelerating?
  2. Now try the second animation. In what direction, if any, are the truck, the car and the ladder each accelerating?

Open the page here in a new window to do the following:

  1. What is inertia?
  2. Scroll to the bottom and answer the practice questions there.

Open the page here a new window to do the following:

  1. Look at the first three diagrams of the textbook and man.  These are called free-body diagrams.  Try doing a free-body diagram of you yourself at this moment.   Remember to identify each of the forces acting on you.
  2. Try the practice questions at the bottom.

If you are done early you can go here to learn about forces on airplanes, or here to look at forces on bridges. Or continue reading through the physics lessons by clicking on “Next” at the bottom of the page in the pages you looked at for questions 1 to 6.
