Smid Updates....

6/14/02- Dirk and I traveled to Iowa City for his one month check-up. Dirk had a MRI in the morning and a appointment with Dr. Buatti in the afternoon.   Dr. Buatti showed us the MRI that was done on April 9 and the one that was done this morning. The tumor is shrinking!!! We suspected this, since Dirk has not been experiencing hardly any symptoms, but it was wonderful to actually be able to see it!!! We are so blessed and we thank God for His presence in our lives. We also are so thankful for all of you reading this!
            We will go back to Iowa City in 3 months. Dirk will continue to have MRIs every three months until Dr. Buatti changes it to 6! I will update the site if anything changes, but hopefully you won't see anything here until September!!
             Thanks again, for all of your support.

9/10/02- Dirk and I will go to Iowa City for a 7:00 a.m. appointment on 9/16. I will let you know the results of the MRI on 9/17! Thanks for checking in!

9/16/02- Dirk's MRI and doctor's appointment went very well today. The tumor appears the same, if not a little smaller than three months ago!! Dr. Buatti wants to see us after the new year!! Dirk is feeling great and has no symptoms.

We are so thankful for all of your prayers! Words cannot express the gratitude that we have for all of you that have been praying for Dirk. I know that I have said this before, but Dirk, the girls and I, are truly blessed. We thank God every day for such supportive family, friends, co-workers, students and church family.

01/11/03- Dirk's next appointment will be on February 13 in Iowa City. We had a great holiday season and are looking forward to a wonderful 2003! Dirk is feeling great and is symptom free!

2/14/03- Happy Valentines Day! Dirk's appointment went well yesterday. The MRI showed that the tumor is stable and he doesn't want to see Dirk for six months! We continue to be blessed! Thanks for all the prayers! I will update again in August!

09/08/03- Just a quick update. Dirk's next MRI is Thursday, September 11. Please pray for continued good news! I will update on the 12th!

09/11/03- Our good news streak continued today! Praise the Lord! Dirk's MRI showed no change in the tumor. Dr. Buatti wants to see him in 6 months! Dirk is feeling good and enjoys being back in football. He is an assistant coach at Normal Community West this fall. Thanks for checking on us!

03/29/04- Dirk went in for his semi-annual MRI today. We again received the good news that the tumor has not changed. We continue to thank God for all of our blessings. We will go back in 6 more months! Dirk is pretty much symptom free! I will update in 6 months.

10/21/04- Time for the semi-annual MRI again. Dirk and I left at 5:30 a.m. to head to his 9:00 MRI and doctor appointment. Once again, Dr. Buatti is confident that the tumor has not changed! We will go back in 6 months for another MRI. Dirk is feeling great and enjoying a successful football season at NCWHS! Thanks for checking in! Thanks to brother-in-law Mike for getting the girls to school. I know I keep saying this, but we are so thankful for all of our blessings.

04/28/05- Dirk and I traveled to Iowa City this morning for his semi-annual MRI. We were again thrilled with the news that the tumor has not changed. Dr. Buatti indicated that he would like to see us in 9 months since it has now been 3 years!! Dirk continues to feel great! Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks to Ce Ann for picking Laine and Paige up from school and for making us dinner!

03/28/06- It was brought to my attention that I have not updated this site for a while! Dirk had another MRI on January 30. Dr. Buatti had him come back in February for a field of vision test along with another eye test since it had not been done since 2003. Dirk passed this test with flying colors! He has 20/20 vision and Dr. Lee even thought that his field of vision had improved! Dr. Buatti wanted us to come back for another MRI yesterday. The MRI yesterday went well. We are to go back in 3 months for another MRI. It has now been over 4 years from diagnosis and Dirk continues to demonstrate very few symptoms! Thank you for checking in with us and for your continued support. God continues to bless us!

07/03/06- Thanks for checking in. Dirk had a MRI today. All is well. Dr. Buatti wants to keep a close eye on him and see him in 3-4 months again. I will update again at that time!
