Jorge Luis Borges has influenced many writers with his style not only magical realism of course he has influenced many writers of the spanish language with his superb skills at handling the language. Many of his ideas and theories have been also reused in literature especially the ideas of labyrinths and of multiple personalities.
With his style of Magical Realism Borges has influenced writers such as the great Gabriel Garcia Marquez. In
100 Years of Solitude Marquez shows Magical Realism as Borges first introduced it. Marquez uses Magical Realism quite frequently in his novel infact many would say it is actually based on it and it is certainly his prominent novel and the novel that took him to fame.
Alejo Carpentier was also influenced by Borges as he aslo includes elements of Magical Realism in his novel. The esteemed Cuban writer presented the Magical Realism which is actually present in South America in his autobiographical novel
The Lost Steps. Isabel Allende who has recently risen to fame with her novel The House of the Spirits which of course bears a surprisingly striking resemblance to Gabriel Garcia Marquez's 100 Years of Solitude has also been influenced by Borges especially in her use of Magical Realism.
