X-men

Starring: Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan,
Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Hugh Jackman

R: PG-13

It has been a long time coming, but the very popular X-men finally make it to the big screen. A successful
Marvel comic, X-men is trying its luck in theaters.
I have to say that I was skeptical as I walked into the theater, I have read many of the X-men comic
books, but I admit that I was pleasantly surprised. Although X-men won't blow you away with it's
story or special effects, in comparison to today's standards, it is a good action flick non the less.
The characters are left slightly undeveloped, which makes perfect ground for a second film,
which would be great. Wolverine(Hugh Jackman) and Rogue(Anna Paquin) are the most developed
characters out of the X-men, which is only a shame if neither is your favorite. The amount of characters
to follow is enough to appreciate the fact that if every X-men character was in the film, well, the movie
would have had to have been much much longer. There are, if you know your X-men, X-men characters
that are left in the background and in scenes that you have to pay attention to names and abilities to
recognise who they are, which I found fun. Did you recognize any?
The rest of the character development it left to the audience's imagination.
X-men is also a movie that everyone can watch. There is little to no bad language, the fight sceens are
more fun to watch than you think violent, though some may think short, and it doesn't fail to throw some
comedy in too.
Having read the comic books and seeing the movie, I have to give the film two thumbs up. It does,
however, seemed to be rushed a bit, as it has to fit into a 93 minute show, but it satisfied me enough
to where I have to say it did the Marvel comic justice.

Overall: Good action, great characters, entertaining, and a must see for all X-men fans and those new to the X-men alike.
