Days and Hours of Operation

My daycare is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. with the exception of days off listed in this handbook and contract. Drop in hours are 7:30AM – 4PM to avoid extending my maximum children allowed. When you enroll in my daycare I will ask you for specific hours you plan for your child(ren) to attend. Although I am open from 7:30 - 5:30, I base your fee on the spot you contract for. Late arrival does not justify late departure.

Basic Rates (per week, per child) effective Feb 1, 2004

6mo to 18mo - $150

18mo to 3 yrs – $130

*Gr. 1 and up - $75 w/o lunch $100 w lunch

*Summer Vacation – Gr. 1 and up $110.00 per week

Drop-in rate $40 per day, paid daily at drop off

March Break, Xmas Break and P.A./P.D. Days – No extra fee above contracted weekly fee

*Part-time schedules may be accommodated. I reserve the right to re-evaluate part-time status should someone be interested in the spot full-time.

Tuition fee is $_____per week. Payment is due every other Thursday morning, when the child is dropped off, post-dated for the Friday. Payment is due regardless of attendance. I do not charge overtime or late fees, however I kindly request that I be informed if you will be more than 15 minutes later or earlier than your normal scheduled pick-up or drop-off, or if the child will be absent altogether. This helps me in planning my day.

**Please remember my fees are not based on actual time the child is in care. Since current provincial laws only allow me 5 Daycare Spaces at any given time, you are paying for the spot in my childcare that your child is occupying. Your child's spot will be held as long as it is being paid.

Payment Procedures

Parent is responsible for payment of all charges incurred due to bounced checks. After a check is bounced, the required payment method is cash. If any charges are unpaid at the time of termination, all legal fees and court costs necessary to collect the outstanding charges will be the responsibility of parents/guardian.

I will give you a minimum of two-week's notice of any increases in your child care fee. Your fees are my entire income, which includes taxes. Beyond that, your fees pay for food, toys, equipment, art supplies, and all of the other items that your child will use. Like other self-employed workers, family childcare providers do not receive the benefits many employees have available. Unlike other forms of self-employment, family childcare is very restrictive. There is no room for growth. The province dictates the size of my business. I cannot take time off for appointments or obligations without careful planning and covering of my responsibilities. I hope this helps with understanding the rates and the reasoning behind my payment policies.

Vacation and Holiday

The parent is responsible for finding back up care. A minimum of three months notice of provider's vacation will be provided when possible to enable parents to obtain other care during that time. Parent vacation is ALWAYS paid, REGARDLESS OF PROVIDERS VACATION TIMEFRAME. (I.e. if you choose to overlap my vacation time, payment is still required) and is due on the last day in care prior to departure. With the exception of the stipulation above, MY holidays/personal days are paid at your discretion. Payment is not required however some of my parents choose to do so regardless. No daycare services will be provided on Public and Statutory holidays. Full Days payment is expected for all of these days.

Occasionally, I may need to take additional days off for appointments, important family activities, training, etc. I will try to schedule these days as far in advance as possible so that you can arrange other care for your child. I also will try to pick a day that is convenient for the majority of parents, if possible. Payment for these days is again at your discretion.

Sickness

This is a well child home. If your child is contagious, do not send him/her. If you are home sick, please do send your child(ren). This lessens the chance of them contracting your virus and spreading it at daycare. The Health Department / Day Nursery Act regulations prohibit the admittance of any child into a family childcare home that exhibits any of the following symptoms:

Fever (101 f. or higher) – child needs to be fever free for 24 hours

Diarrhea – child must be symptom free for 24 hours

Vomiting – child must be symptom free for 24 hours

Rash –check with doctor, ensure it’s not ringworm

Discharge from eyes or ears or Lice – child needs to be treated before return (no nits at all)

Hacking or continuous cough.

Communicable diseases – chicken pox, measles, mumps, conjunctivitis (pink eye), influenza etc. The child may return when the incubation and contagious period is passed and the child is well enough to resume normal childcare activities.

*I have the right to refuse to provide care for a sick child. If your child develops any of the above symptoms while in my care, you will be required to pick up your child immediately. I will always respect your need to be at work. I ask, however, that when deciding if your child should be at home, you give consideration to the other children. Ask yourself how you would feel if another child were as ill as your child. Would you want your well child exposed to these symptoms? Further, there are times when a child is not that ill, but is terribly uncomfortable, and really needs some "one on one". At those times I strongly urge you to consider keeping your child at home.

Meals

Morning snack is served at approximately 10 am, lunch is served around 12:00 PM and afternoon snack around 4 PM. Children are always offered the meal/snack items but are not forced to eat. Children who choose not to eat will not be able to eat until the next meal or snack time.

Parents are responsible for providing food for children on a special diet, homo/soy milk.

Activities

The main goal of this Family Daycare is to have fun, improve social skills, and encourage creative expression. It is my experience that children learn through play. They have 14 plus years of school in their futures. At daycare it is my plan to teach them self respect, respect for others, respect of others things, how to play together and how to play alone, how to share manners and emotionally prepare them for school. I will utilize a variety of activities to accomplish this goal. Freeplay, reading, arts and crafts, music/singing, circle time, dancing, dramatic play/pretend, puzzles, and educational TV/videos numbers, Nintendo 64 and ABC, are just some of the activities we will be doing. This is a scheduled but non-structured family home environment. I will offer these opportunities but do not force any activity on a child.

House Rules

Please respect my profession, my home and me. The respect that you show me, including my home, furnishings, equipment, yard and other children will communicate itself to your child and will make for a better working relationship. There are certain house rules that all children will be taught and expected to follow.

The following rules are enforced for the safety and well being of everyone. There will be no full-out running permitted in the house. Hitting, pushing, biting, grabbing, kicking, spitting, or pinching other children/infants/adults will NOT be allowed. No standing or climbing on chairs, tables, or furniture. No disrespectful language will be used. No play fighting, I have found that from experience all play fight tends to end with someone getting hurt. Children are to keep food and drink in the proper area. If your child intentionally damages my property through destructive behavior or roughness, as opposed to wear and tear you will be liable for the damages.

Arrivals and Departures

It is normal for some younger or new children to have difficulty separating from parents or cry when being dropped off. Please be very brief (no more than 5 minutes) during drop-off times; the longer you prolong the departure the harder it gets. A smile, cheerful good-bye kiss, and a reassuring word that you will be back are all that is needed. In my experience, children are nearly always quick to get involved in play or activities as soon as parents are gone. Please be assured that if your child is having a difficult time settling down and is crying for a prolonged period of time, I will contact you.

Please be very brief at pick-up times also. This is a time of testing when two different authority figures are present (the parent and the provider), and all the children will test to see if the rules still apply. Please help show your child that you respect me, the rules of my house, and my property by reminding them that the rules still apply when you are around.

Termination Procedures

Either parent/guardian or provider may terminate at any time with 2 weeks written notification. (Payment is to be made whether or not children are in care for the last 2 weeks)

Revisions to handbook and Contract

Parents will receive at least two weeks notice concerning changes/updates in this handbook/contract UNLESS it is a new provincial regulation that I have no control over, in which case the change will take place immediately. I will notify parents in writing of any changes. The handbook will be "refreshed" with contract renewal every year.

Absences

There will be no refunds or adjustments made to your child care fee for your time missed due to illness, extended holidays, or days off. A place has been reserved for each child that cannot be filled on a short-term basis. Although I will make every attempt to be available each day, there will be occasions when another family member or I are ill and I am unable to provide service. You will be notified as soon as possible of any personal or family illness, funeral, or emergency. It will be your responsibility to obtain substitute care on such occasions and to arrange payment to the substitute. If I am unable to provide care for any of these reasons, you will not be charged for these days. I strongly suggest that you have a family member, a friend, or a substitute provider lined up for the times I am closed due to illness or emergency.

Signatures

By signing this contract, parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to abide by the written policies of the provider.
