Junior High? (66? 67?) I had a passable voice, so I fancied myself a lead singer... I'd taken piano lessons in grade school (HATED 'em!)  - then "the band" wanted to play stuff like "96 Tears", so I was persuaded to use the Hammond in Gary's living room (where we practiced)...
At some point later whatever year that was, I convinced my parents of the wisdom of getting me a Farfisa Portable Deluxe organ (and an amplifier). Perhaps Gary's parents encouraged my folks - in hopes of allowing the other parents to share in the joy of having us rehearse at their houses!

"Loading in" to Terryville High (70?) (71?) with a REAL lead singer...
I still did a couple/few lead vocals - like "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl"; apparently the school's Principal took exception to the some of the lyrics (the chorus, actually) - 'cause he walked out on the stage and pulled the plug on the vocal amp...

In 1978, I returned to UConn with the intention of "finishing" school - after 5 years in Canyon.
Instead, I was summoned to FL by the rather hungover-looking gentleman with the hat (who had been the bass player in the aforementioned "Blue Pacific" / "Hevy Lode" venture)...
I refer to this experience as "A Connecticut Yankee In King Quaalude's Court"!
... I limped back up to CT after 6 months and re-joined Canyon. The young lady in this picture accompanied me ... and wound up fronting Canyon for the next five years or so...
