Every spring Camino Real Region holds qualifying rallies to determine who goes to Western or National Championships (every 3 years there is a national championships in Kentucky, the rest of the time we go to Western Championships in Colorado.) This year the region held a Mega rally containing all 4 major diciplines to determine who would go to Western Championships. Cerro Coso sent a Dressage team and 2 individuals in Tet.
Dressage is a sport where you complete a test of movements and are judged on how well the horse responds to you. You also can to Musical Freestyles, Pas De Deux and Quadrilles. Our team this year cosisted of Audrey Bennent, Sandra Lloyd, Evelyn Roth (HM) andSummer Banks(Q)
. They placed second out of 2 teams after 4 rides over 2 days.
Tetrathalon consists of 4 phases; shooting, running, swimming, and stadium jumping. CCPC sent Ana Martin and Phillip DeMay to compete and try to quallify at this year's rally. After shooting a gun, running 1000 meters, swimming 100 meters, and riding over a 2'3'' course, Ana Martin placed first out of 2 Novice Girls. After shooting a gun, runnning 3000 meters, swimming 200 meters and riding over a 3' 7'' course, Phillip DeMay placed first out of 1 Senior Boy.
Ana, Phillip and Summer all qualified to compete at Championships.
