Wu Guanzheng
Wu Guanzheng, 63, joined the party in 1962 and studied Thermal Engineering at Qinghua University where he served on the faculty and became the deputy party chief of his department before moving to Wuhan where he worked at a power plant and the city's Science and Technology Committee.
He went on to become the party secretary and mayor of Wuhan City, 1983-1986.
In 1986, he rose to become deputy secretary of CPC Jiangxi Provincial
Committee and acting governor of Jiangxi Province.
He was elected deputy secretary of CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, 1990;
governor of Jiangxi Province, 1993-1995; and secretary of CPC Jiangxi
Provincial Committee, 1995-1997.
Appointed Standing Committee member, secretary, and president of Party School,
of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, Apr. 1997.
Elected member of Political Bureau of 15th CPC Central Committee, Sept. 1997.
Elected secretary of 7th CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, Nov. 1998.
Alternate member of 12th CPC Central Committee, 1982; member of 13th, 14th and
15th CPC Central Committees, 1987, 1992 and 1997.
He is also a deputy of the National People's Congress.
