A Brief Introduction |
INTRODUCTION
The role of the Army Cadet Force (Or ACF for short.) is to inspire young people to achieve success with a spirit of service to the Queen, Country and Community; As well as developing the qualities of citizenship, leadership and personal responsibility. There are approximately 1,674 detachment throughout the UK with a strength of around 40,000 cadets. The ACF is run by over 7,000 adults drawn from the local community. The ACF is not a part of the Army in any Way, (memebership of the ACF does not mean you have to join the Army !!!), but it is partly funded by the Ministry of Defence |
Whilst receiving a lot of training and
resources from the Military the ACF is co-ordinated by Civilian TAVRA employees.
The ACF is 'Essentially a youth organisation with a training syllabus based
upon good citizenship and personnel development, whilst at the same time
linking this syllabus to Military skills like drill, skill at arms and
shooting, fieldcraft and First Aid.
Many of the skills gained in the ACF are invaluable in the JOBs marketplace with a large number of cadet leaving school with considerable leadership experience and knowledge. The ACF offers a huge range of ways for youngsters to achieve self discipline and a sense of self pride. No matter what the way. From parachuting to mastering foot drill. Things that the ACF offer include comradeship, Weekend Training camps (For around a fiver !!!!) and a list of activities the length of your arm. Go On Live Your Imagination !! |
The ACF relies heavily on it's adult instructors. These volunteers freely give their time to both develop and protects the cadets welfare. There are currently opportunities galore for potential adults ranging between the ages of 20-50yrs. This includes both Officers and adult instructors who are capable of becoming youth leaders and assist in running local detachments of on average between 15-30 cadets. You will need plenty of energy, enthusiasm and leadership and more importantly you will Sense of humour ! You will need to be willing to learn all of the ACF training you will be given (So you can teach the cadets etc.) If you want any more information send me an email and I'll see what I can do .... |
