And now, some random thoughts on trading...
As far as grading boots, it's a judgment call. I usually just go with the previous trader's grade until I can sit down and listen. My worst grade is C- (audience recording with a lot of noise/talking). Radio Broadcasts are always good, and usually get an "A" unless some slight imperfection (static) knocks it down to A-. I try to give as much information as I can, and everyone is welcomed to ask questions.
Some good recordings off the top of my head are:All the video discs are great. Most recommended:
You don't have anything to trade? I like many different bands, and many different kinds of music. Try me. Send a suggestion. Due to time constraints, I usually go with a small trades of 4 or 5 discs or so. But I'm flexible. I like to trade without jewel cases/artwork to keep costs down, but you get a disc with a printout of the setlist from my web site. Please put PJ Harvey in the subject of your e-mail or I may mistake your note for spam.
A few purists in the bootleg community condemn selling. On the other hand, I've purchased a few discs in my time, and there's no shame in it. It's better than going without. If you really want to buy a disc, I will take $5 per disc or $20 for 5 discs, which includes shipping. All payments cover my costs (disc, label, sleeve, shipping). I prefer payment through Paypal, though I've also accepted money orders in the past.
I'm an old-time PJ fan, and I welcome helping fellow fans as best I can. Deadbeat traders really infuriate me, though I've found the deadbeats are the losers off E-Bay, and not the real fans that populate the newsgroups. I have no idea why anyone would be so perverse and lowly as to cheat a fellow fan out of a lousy disc...I humbly divert your attention to St. Augustine and his thoughts on the problem of evil in the world because I'm totally baffled...
